Cracking shooting Steve and a great report too. those type of outings are very few and far between.

After a hard week at work and little sport been had, I made plans with Kes (pw member ) to have a afternoon on a peice of land with a nice copse area in the midde of a wheat field, that had showed plenty of birds this last week when i had been driving past. Met Phil and got down there about 2ish and on arrival we weren't disapointed on getting to the gate to the field approximatley 150 plus birds lifted off the top of the copse, both our eyes lit up with eager anticipation. so we got set up on the edge of the copse and waited until they had decided it was safe to return, they duly obliged slowly and surely presenting us with some tough sporting shots but Phil was on form and bagged the first few at good distance. the rotary seemed to be holding them back at distance so it came down and the sport picked up sometimes from all directions and large numbers too. it got manic around the 6pm mark with birds everywhere from all directions and different heights some really high taken above our heads through the trees and some directly at us ike stealth bombers lol. In the end we ended with 35 picked with 16 we had to leave out in the crops save damaging them anymore than they already are. a few pics below from today a pic of the ones picked up today

Gutted I'm too far away and busy this weekend or i would have snapped this up without any hesitation, it's a bargain for someone ....good luck with the sale

John, it was good to meet you and Dave too, I've been up there tonight and the birds were lifting all over the place which was good as I was showing another PW member around, the land does have a ot of potential ut the best sight of tonight was defined flight lines over all fields. especially by the holding pond we were looking at clearing away a good 4 dozen lifted off the barley and followed the tree line to the wooded area I just thought a ittle thank you to all those that joined me in the new venture should have a litte something to start them on their way. We only have 1 place available now so its looking good. drop me a txt if your out over the weekend and i will see if i can get over.

I've noticed just lately that the engraving on my Lanber has started to blacken, during the hot spell and can only put it down to the sweat from my hands ( salt ect ) I clean the gun once a week inside and out if required more internally and a quick wipe down of the outside of the barrels and clean the stock. I've tried the cleaning cloths but it just wont budge any ideas or manufacturers of a decent cleaning solution to help get it sparkling again sean

Thanks for the comments Phil, there have been a number of enquiries but i think a few are a tad too far out for travelling. the season will soon be on us when we need to be out and showing a presence on the land, I'm sure those who do join us will enjoy the sport and surroundings.

on todays evidence a 1 in 3 / 4 shot but have had days where i've had a 1 in 2 hit ratio but in my defence this is my first season on the pigeon and SG, but it beats been indoors and DIY

Thanks, but i think its best to keep the farmer on side and not pee him off by flattenening his livelyhood along with keeping the permission Cheerrs Lg1, but it just made more sense than anything else so i didnt damage the crop

Due to extensive crop damage last year, we have 10 spaces available for pigeon / corvid shooting syndicate based in North Cheshire. You can shoot the syndicate land as many times as you wish. Must be available during harvest season Shooting over winter and spring drillings & late stubbles ect. Approx 1800 acres of rape, wheat, barley, oats and potatoes. Total mix croppings around 2700 acres that attract the usual suspects. the land also offers the oppurtunity for walked up shooting with plenty of hedgerows with the chance for fox, rabbit, hares and the odd pheasant. A current PW member who accomponied me on a day out can verify the potential sport to be had. You have the chance of all year round unlimited vermin shooting, and the pigeon shooting on land situated in North Cheshire and a little further afield. Duck, Geese, and woodcock all frequent the land and water holes so plenty of seasonal sport can be had. Having managed to get rid of the missus for the day I decided to get out and try and have a few hours sportwithout any ear ache.I decided to head off to a litte wooded area I have on a peice of permission. The only down side is it is in the middle of a field ful of high wheat but thought i'd give it a go and see what the afternoon brought. when i pulled up at the gate and closed the door i was gobsmacked when around 3 -400 birds took flight out of the trees on the edge of the wood that is roughly 150yrds from the gate, i couldnt believe my eyes my heart started racing and i couldnt get my gear out the motor quick enough. I stood and watched the birds for 10 mins before heading over and they just kept coming back to the wood I didnt bother taking the hide netting or poles as theres loads of cover and set myself up on the east side of the wood with the wind behind me and the birds coming in to me from the wheat field over the lane into the wood. I decided to make the decision to only shoot the birds inbound so any that dropped were coming in towards the wood and wood land on the edge of the wheat. I managed drop the first bird that landed about 10yrd behind me and set the bouncer up with it. The sport was good with birds coming steady for a couple of hours but my plan of hitting birds and them dropping in towards me didn't quite work out with a number hitting the deck out in the wheat and despite my best efforts i only managed to locate 6 of the 14 out in the field but did have 23 land behind me and on the edge of the field. In total a bag of 29 picked up. out of 37 dropped and not shooting the fliers from left to right and vice versa due to the crop damage i may of caused walking and searching the field. Just need it to be cropped down or a good blow hole to appear looking at the flight lines the wood could take 7 guns and all have some good sport.

This shouldn't cause too much problems, My issuing force is Merseyside but all my permissions are in North Wales and Cheshire, they will check the land registry on the data base if it's not shown they will contact the relevent force to ask if this has been checked if the land haas not been checked they may request someone to visit the land if they cannot make a decision by checking google earth ect. Thanks for the comment but as you can see i have not said that the bird is mine nor i took the photo, i posted the picture of the bird to show the true potential and meaning of hawking, i did say however that the picture shows my son and me with my bird. I appoogise if i have misled someone or upset someone in posting the picture .

Whats with the bale twine ? i'm sorry but pictures showing the incorrect equipment and techniques are the exact things that get the Harris hawk fliers a bad name. I take it you were using it as a creance ? if so why when a correct creance costs less than £7. Did you keep her free lofted or tethered down ? only asking because her tail feathers look battered and very worse for wear or the incorrect flooring within her mews .
