Does anybody have a pump action for sale? (i fancy a new toy ) Not too botherd about what conditions its in, as long as its got a straight barrel and the firing pin works!! I would be willing to pay up to £150 depending on the quality. Tody
  2. i got a great pinewood floater for christmas. In my ignorance I thought i new how o use them, but now i hav realise theres more too them than ataching the crocodile clips! Firstly; can the head of the bird flop or do I have to make it straight? Also where abouts in my pattern should I place it. Before i got it i had a flying pigeon decoy which i always put at the back of the pattern, about 15 m from the end of the horse shoe. Any advice would be appreciated. tody
  3. I have started using my AYA s/s 12bore instead of an o/u. I can hit clays/pigeons perfectly if they are coming over head or away from me, but i struggle to hit crossers. Has anybody any experience with a side by side, how would you shoot and how much lag would u give the bird. Yesterday I tried it out at the the local clay shoot and I specifically did the skeet stand- I got an embarrassing 10 out of 25!! Any help would be great, as im beginning to belive I bought snap caps! Cheers Tody
  4. Thanx for ur replies. I was wondering bout buying the vale rotory machine. Has any body had any experience in using these, if so how good are they, and are they worth the money? Cheers Tody
  5. I have seen a load of these machines on the market, they seem to range from between £100-£250. I am considering buying one, and would like to know which one is the best. Cheers Tody
  6. cranfield I mean I dont know what the symbols mean, i.e 1/4 choke. Also I would like to know how I would identify what the chokes were that I got with the gun. Tody
  7. Hiya I have aquired an o/u 12bore with multi changable chokes. Although I know what their purpose is, I still dont know how they are classifeid. Last week at the local gun shop I asked the gunsmith what chokes he had. He told me a load of information that just came across as gobldygoop (wot a word!). Please can you tell me any info on chokes, any would be appreciated. Cheers Tody
  8. Yp, Iv often wondered about using a teddy, but how wud I put one up and how effective r they? Tody
  9. Iv just gained permission to shoot over a setaside field. It has a large amount of clover on it, but pigeons arent feeding although it has flight lines above it. The spot I have chosen to place my hide has evidence that a pigeon shooter had been there quite a long time ago, because there are a few old decoys. my main query is; should I shoot over this field evn though the pigeons arent feeding on it? Thanx, tody
  10. wonder who the mother was??!!! Tody
  11. Hi squirrel Hunter yes you can shoot game, as long as you are shooting them in the shooting season. You may also need a game license.
  12. Thought this would be a good pic to take! It took me plenty of attempts, but finally I captured it.

I am a responsible and safe decoyer, I am willing to pay for shooting rights on fields within a 5 mile radius of Gainsborough, Lincs. When replying please PM me. Tody
  14. Thanx Cranfield/Wonderboy Reply to Cranfield: the crops are cereals, either corn or barley. About 200m from the wood is a large patch of weeds (mostly young grass) in the middle of the field, i was planning on shooting them over this. Is that a good idea or not? Unfortunatly all the land I have grows cereals. Are these any good?- I have decoyed over them occasionaly but its never been that successful. There is another field that I can get permission to shoot over, it is near the roost wood and is just a grass field, with clover. Is it any good? Thanx. Any advice will be useful.
  15. I am planning on decoying in a field next to a large roost wood. The reason why I have chosen this location is because there are loads of pigeon flightlines over head. I am wondering if this is a good place to shoot? Cheers :yp:
  16. Thanks very much sutty for the advice. Its very helpful- now i know where i have been going wrong for a while!! Thanks again. Tody :yp:
  17. I did a quick recce of my favorite field the other day while I was shooting. I crept over the bank and too my suprise I saw hundreds of pigeons flying round landing in the hedges and on the field. I rushed home and grabbed my gear. I scared them away as I walked them off, not bothering to shoot any incase it scared them for good. I got set up and the Pigeon activity completly halted and in the end I only shot 2!!!!! Could someone please tell me the reason for this. I realise the birds were flying round more because they had been scared out of the wood by the pheasant shooting. But why didnt they return to the same hedges or part of the field? Cheers :yp:
