  1. Then why dont you try and set up a hide in the middle of the field Would that work though? would the pigeons not see an unusual object and not bother to fly down? Just wondering because I have a similar situation on some spring cereal. tody
  2. Went out to do a bit of roost/sitty tree shooting midafternoon. High winds from the north, some sleet. Thought pigeons would be teaming in but didnt see a single one!!- sat in the freezing cold for 3 hours! spring drillings will be coming soon so hopefuly will get some good shooting then tody
  3. I have designed a flapper. It will be string operated with the possibility of having a motor. I will post the photos when I begin building. It is fairly easy to make one, all I am using is a full body cradle, a cradle for he wings and a pulley. tody
  4. LOL To true teal, to true. So red, did you get the beer goggles pretty bad? Tody
  5. Hi chris, The wheat field may give you some good shooting when it has been laid (when the spring/summer storms have blown it over) also you may get shooting when it has just been harvested in august/october/september. Chick weed is fairly good in the summer months, but it wont be much good if there is plenty of food else where. If the grass fields have got clover on them then you may get some good shooting, anytime of the year. The best thing to do is just go down and check out the fields on a regular basis, that way you WILL know whether os not the pigeons are feeding. Hope this helps, tody

  8. I am thinking of using lofters in spring and summer. I have very limited experience with these so I would like to ask; a. What price am i looking at to buy some? b. How many decoys should I put in the trees? c. Is a seperate set of lofting poles needed for each decoy? Any feedback would be much appreciated, Cheers Tody
  9. CS, Just wondering, how many birds you have dispatched during the programme so far? tody
  10. I have seen quite a few whte blackbirds and a few black cross white crows. White animals are quite uncommon because, 1. its a deformaty (like albino humans) and 2. They do not blend in with their surroundings so are easy prey to their predators. Tody
  11. Its nessie!!! that is one large catfish. I have caught 3 up to 35lb each and they are large enough!!! what a catch tody

These townies can con you big style! my m8 ended up paying £25 for one because the seller said that if he wasnt prepared to spend good money on a ferret then he obviously wasnt prepared to look after it properly! Jobs

LOL neil - Thats my job at the minute, except its regional :look: I am a student with enough spare time to do my favorite things- shoot, fish and drink tody
  17. As far away as possible! I would say 200 yds minimum because the shot may still be travelling if u shot at the right angle also people on the roads or footpaths can see you and may get a bit worried seeing a gun pointing at them (remember they dont know what type of gun it is- could be a large rifle for all they know!) If there is a house, road or footpath near to the field I am shooting in I always set up with the object behind me, so i know it will be safe. Hope that helps, Tody
  18. 9000! Wot a gr8 game! tody
  19. Hi mahmood, Ye i think its worth it. Your bag numbers will be fairly low but you will get a bit of sport. Make sure you are dead under a flight line, and use as many decoys as you can get. I have often decoyed on fields of winter wheat and fields that have not had pigeons feeding on them and it can be good fun. It is very important to be under the flight line because the pigeons wont waste their energy to come and have a look if they are 100 yds from the pattern. I expect your bag will probably be no more than 20, and thats if ur under a main flight line. hope that helps, tody

  21. And finally looking over the hide: Basically for making hides, if there are nautral materials close by use them: they are always going to be better than the artificial stuff. Tody

  23. Hi stoves, Just replying to your post on hide building materials. This is a hide I have made and use for pigeons and crows. It is made from a Hawthorn hedge that the farmer had cut down.
