  1. Yes, that is a problem. I have tried various places around the garden - flowerpots, compost heaps, etc, with no luck. I spoke to the importer and he said they require bacteria to break down, so last season I threw a bunch in the most stagnant, muddy'ist flightpond known to man, and a few weeks ago went to find them. I can only assume they also need oxygen, because they came out of the mud / water like they were new - not even the metal on them had rusted.... Not being an expert, but also being vaguely optimistic, I'm presuming that when they down break down (even if it takes some time) they break down into something less harmful than regular plastic.
  2. It does work, and in my experience kills better than steel. 2 1/2" through to 3" is available, and you can use it through any choke. It's also a fair amount cheaper than Bismuth.
  3. Hi, Title says it all really - I'm after a cylinder choke and a full choke. I'd rarther the cylinder choke is one designed for use with steel. The full choke I don't mind - infact, from memory I don't think Browning recommends them for steel? Also, I'd rather have the Official Browning ones than third party. Best, Peter
  4. A few snapshots from my 2023/24 season
  5. I find that Lyalvale 'Precision Steel' 32g and 30g '5' are very effective. The only downside is picking up the plastic wads afterwards....
  6. Re what has been said about the age of people who shoot - one of the reasons I enjoy shooting is because there's a broad range of ages involved. I shoot with people who are younger and older than I am. That's everything from teenagers to those who are well past retirement. I not saying we can't do with more coming up through the ranks, but if you take a look at Instagram there are plenty of young faces involved.
  7. Wild stab in the dark - but could that not be French walnut? I know this is a Belgian gun, but I saw something once about the Presidential grade Mirokus being stocked with French Walnut, and that the figure seems underwhelming to some by today's standards?
  8. I have a subscription - there's a good number of thoughtful articles on there. Something new is generally posted ever day or so.
  9. Apologies, it wasn't my intent to pry into your personal circumstances. Its just I'd have given my (metaphorical) right arm to have some of my familys old guns. Anyway, the condition it looks to be in is a testament to the previous owners - I hope it gets the same care and brings the same joy to its new one's. If you were a bit closer, and my cabinet wasn't overflowing with side by sides, I'd be sorely tempted.
  10. You obviously have your reasons, but it seems a terrible shame to sell a gun like that.
  11. Putting a price to something doesn't mean to say that no one's aware of the value. Personally I agree with you - I dislike to see everything reduced to a monetary value. But I don't think that's what is being done here - a number is being ascribed for political reasons, while we (and BASC) know the value. I've had to do similar things in the past to justify to family members wanting to keep fields on our land wet. If you talked to some of the older members of my family about the value of nature in respect of a boggy field, they would look at like you were mad. If you framed it in terms of sporting value, things would click. Sometimes to win, an argument needs to be translated into a language others can understand.
  12. Thanks - I hadn't noticed that. I've ordered the other one, so I shall see how I get along with it first 👍
  13. Perfect - just bought myself a copy 👍
  14. Can anyone recommend a good one for wildfowl, shorebirds, waders etc? Having bought a decent (old) pair of binoculars, I thought I may as well add some extra value to my walks along the beach? I know wildfowling and bird watching aren't mutually exclusive activities by any means, so hoping for some recommendations? I did do a quick search on Amazon, but the first book that came up was 'Chris Packhams birdwatching guide' - which rarther dissuaded me from looking any further....
  15. 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 Thanks all - very appreciative of the advise you have all given. In fear of makeing a mess, i'll take it to somone when I have some time on my hands - and either go for removing fabric from the lids, or having bits made with a constrasting fabric / leather / material.
  16. 👍 A foam molder sounds like a very useful thing Hope it works out for the best I'm a big fan of both of those paintings - looking at them you can almost feel the anticipation and atmosphere.
  17. Wasn't 'Liebour' a play on the libor rate scandal that came out towards the end of the last Labour government? I always presumed the term had just stuck and taken on a life of its own.
  18. Thanks - its French Oak. It has sliding leaves so it can double in size on short notice. It's an excellent table - I rate it very highly.
