Took watson for a longish woodland walk today as a bit of pre-season beating training - all in all very successful in not dashing too far ahead recalling to the whistle and flushing out a few bunnies, a pheasant and couple walking through the woods. Not sure which was more shocked, the pheasant, the bunnies or the couple

Glad the listen went well and he got on ok with the .410 - When Bakerboys grandson (my son Handlebar2) used to use it we called the gun a 4Tim after him

That .410 should see him proud. My boy Handlebar2 (Bakerboy's Grandson) was a keen user of the gun till he got a bit bigger; and he managed to hit targets with it that some adults struggled with using a 12g. Good luck to him hope he does well

A Bread Machine named after him great idea. I was thinking if I get another gun dog I'll call him after my dad, as hopefully he'll be as useful in the field as him and I can blame him for any strange smells

Ok so today marked a great occasion - it was was Watson's first day in the field (thanks to Catamong for letting me come along beating today) after a tentative start getting a little excited by the other dogs he really improved as the morning went on and really got the hang of things, whilst not actually managing any retrieves he did sniff out a partridge and stood guard till I got there, looking forward to the next time we're out. But here's some recent pics including one from this morning

Thought I'd put a post on here to share some of Handlebar2 (my son) recent achievements He's recently started archery at a local club and with some help from Bakerboy (his grandad) we managed to get him his own bow, tonight was the second outing of the bow and he completed his '252' badge where he must score 252 points with 36 arrows - my heart was in my mouth for his last six arrows but he managed to SMASH the total with an amazing 286!! He's a dab eye on the clays and now with the bow so should the zombie apocalypse ever happen I'm sticking close by him! And if being a great shot with a gun and a bow isn't enough, he took this amazing snap of a lizard he spotted whilst on holiday with Bakerboy in Norfolk on his mobile! He certainly makes me one VERY proud dad!

I've a Lab Springer cross and he's a great dog, only a year old and coming on great with his training
