  1. They are very easy to change (I've done it quite a few times now for various reasons). Just use a small spanner to undo the nut and jam your finger against the back of the bolt - they aren't done up particularly tightly.
  2. I would 100% recommend joining the league - it's a great way of meeting people and trying lots of different local grounds. I really miss it now that I live in Essex!
  3. Has anyone notified Essex that they have bought/sold a gun recently? I sent the form off the other day to the email address on the website, but I seem to remember that previously they have sent an automated acknowledgement back. I haven't received anything this time...
  4. Yeh the stands are all pretty much in the same place; except stand one has gone to make room for the car park and they have taken the skeet range out.
  5. I'm visiting my parents so thought I'd see what it is like now. The new guy seemed nice and they are obviously doing a lot of work; new car park, new traps, new stands and lots of landscaping. The guy that served me said they are looking into building a rifle range in the future. The range of targets was pretty good and fairly challenging, but obviously I don't know how often they get changed.
  6. I used to go there all the time when I lived in North Yorkshire. Never had a problem with them but I did used to buy a lot from there, so I guess that helps! Went in there a couple of weeks ago as I was in the area and was looking for a new coat. The owner was chatting to a bloke near the counter, he didn't even bother acknowledge me and say he would be with me in a min. I wandered around for a bit, couldn't see what I wanted so left without even speaking to anyone! Wandered into the gun room without being asked for my cert. Where are they moving to in Thirsk?
  7. I saw a guy walking through Liverpool Street Station dressed in game shooting gear with a slip over his shoulder last year… He was getting a few funny looks! Personally stick it in a break down case – it’s a bit more discrete.
  8. Gave Graham's Clay Shoot a try today, it's worth a visit.
  9. I had one of the early F3s and it double discharged almost constantly. It went back to be repaired under warranty then I traded it in for a DT10 as I didn't have any confidence in it.
  10. Fennes is a good shout for a beginner. Don't worry about holding people up it can be quite slow there anyway....
  11. I know a guy that is shooting out there - looks like he is having a great time in the pictures he's posting on Facebook!
  12. That's a real shame I used to go there a lot when I lived up there. Hopefully they will find another venue.
  13. Had my first taste of rabbiting with ferrets today on an organic farm where my mate works. We started off the morning on some earth banks around the farm. It was pretty chilly, but we soon warmed up once we got started! In the afternoon we moved on to some paddocks. We got 26 in total, it was a fantastic day and I can’t wait to try it again! It turns out one of the guys there today was a PW member. So I’d like to say a massive thanks to The Essex Hunter for everything he taught me today!
