  1. I agree rab .Had a good blab though with BASC and we may have some solid advice in the magazine in the near future regarding this overlooked issue. My AYA although proofed at 1200,by modern proofing methods is within the tolerance of the more modern 1320 it seems but sadly without sending it down to get reproofed(if they even were wiling to do this) for steel you take a risk.I have a few rhinos here i was putting through the sp-10 but at 48g weight and their velocity at 1400 added on they are apparently too hefty a load for my AYA.Pity ,but i can use them up through the sp-10 i suppose until i've sold it.
  2. Having just picked up an AYA 10 bore i was concerned about putting gamebore rhinos through the gun as they state 1370 on the cases.Nitro steel are well within tolerances so thats fine and the winchester supremes seem well used by many aya owners although there is no clarity on the boxes as to what pressure they generate..However after discussing the lack of C.I.P guidelines regarding 10 bore steel cartridges with BASC i would like to confirm what cartridges forum users have been putting through their s/s,o/u tens.I understand most use what they feel safe with but with a gun taken out to 1/2 chokes or opened up even more has anyone been using rounds up to the 1320/1370 pressure levels through their doubles??
  3. The sheridans bought in the early 70's .20 cal were incredibly powerful and very accurate.I inherited my dads when he bought a new one in the 80's.He regretted giving it to me every day as the models made in the 80's were no where near a deadly as the originals.Only those not aware of how air rifles used to be would comment so negatively on these early sheridans.
  4. ach its only the dark side if you dont keep yer lamp lit
  5. I was casting my mind back to English lads i have met on the Eden Estuary in Fife in years gone by.I remember one bloke who was up here back in the early 90's in the deep winter months. He had slept in his car for a night or two(mad sod) in extreme sub zero ice and snow conditions and drawn a blank on geese.I was out as usual every five minutes back then and came across him one afternoon. After placing him in a good spot i called a few greys over and he nailed one clean. One very chuffed fowler. He was from the north of England somewhere, maybe lancs and i often wonder if he ever returned. He had his car down by the pub that afternoon i think.Given the ice was solid from one side of the inner bay to the other i reckon he must have had more than a few drams before sleeping the second night in that car of his.
