  1. The way i was shown to do it was to put a tight bail in a suitable place as a backstop and bait in front of it with peanut butter for a couple of days so they get used to it, then you have a suitable backstop its best if you have a couple of these feeding stations.

    Dumped Game

in answer to black powders is there more to this than meets the eye, possibly, but probably not. I have worked on shoots where dumping birds is the norm and was down in devon last year picking up on a large shoot, at the end of the day the keeper said to take what pheasants we wanted, and when we were returning to the yard, there was a digger excavating a trench, on enquiring on what it was for we were told it was for the birds, he said the game dealer didnt want them as they are only fetching 25 pence, and they would be buried after dark, which i know they were, if basc got there finger out and stopped waisting money why cant they be processed for homeless kitchens and food banks?
  4. When i lost my job i also lost my home as it was tied cottage, i cant afford to rent a private let, as i cant afford a thousand a month plus bills, im nearly 40 now and having to live back at home as the council wont help, ive been on the waiting list since 1993 and never been offered so much as a garden shed, ive worked since two days after leaving school, and i see poles and eastern europeans, get a house within 24 hours of arriving on these shores which is my local councils chartered pledge. if this makes me a racist then i say hard luck, enoch powell was right that one day on these streets will FLOW RIVERS OF BLOOD, look at lee rigby, this **** needs sorting out NOW, i to will be voting UKIP,good luck in rochester lads!

  6. A good wildfowling friend of mine has just been left a few pounds by some distant aunt (lucky b******), he is thinking of buying a hoseboat which is currently moored in rochester kent, it is in a bit of a state but he wants to fix it up, he is a very good wildlife photographer, and wants to take it to norfolk on the wash, some body has told him that he can moor it any where he likes below the mean high water mark however this does not sound right to me, i do not wish to see this chap lose out, does anyone know anything about this? i think this is one for you fenland boys as i understand this is more of an east anglian way of life, advice please?
  7. ive never seen one in semi automatic, how do you find the re loading , do they jam much, what choke does it have?
  8. I realise that this is more the shotgunners domain, but i have been thinking about giving it a go for the challenge, does any one bother, and what sort of bags have you had?
  9. i always carried my shotgun in a slip on public transport to go wildfowling, my father was a train driver so i got a freedom pass, i took it on the bus the tube and the train, i never got stopped once in 20 years, right up until the 77 attacks on london, then i got stopped every time i take it in a fishing rod holder now and nobody looks twice, went through the ticket barriers a victoria station last week and the british transport police were more interested that i did not have my lab muzzled, didnt even ask what was in the case!
  10. i tried to ask earlier on a different topic, so thought id start a new one, is it velocity that counts rather than foot pounds when hunting,iv done a hell of a lot of shooting, all my life, but i seem to get better results with faster ammo, .20 seems to be better than .22, also why do pnumatic airguns seem to fire the pellet faster than springers, its bugged me for years, is this all just in my head?
  11. yes i know what you mean mate, i think its just the same old thing about some people cant see someone get something for nothing, i went and shot a golf coarse for rabbits last year, the bloke collerd hold of me on the way out and said that he wanted to keep all the rabbits, i had shot 37, he didnt even offer me a cup of tea, well i wont be doing him any more favours!
  12. i disagree with some of the comments about garden guns, ive used one for years to kill rats in my ornamental waterfowl pens, they are very effective with the 9mm flobert cartriges loaded with 7 shot, i also use it for dispatching foxes in wires, the maximum range my webley is effective on rats is 12 yards, after that i get alot of wounding, the only thing i would say is a problem is getting the ammo, its a pity its a rim fire as i would love to be able to reload the brass
  13. i think i can just about understand that, thank you. im no expert but am i right in saying that it is velocity that counts when hunting with air rifles, i came to this conclusion when i found that i could get more consistant kills with faster pellets, i noticed a hell of a difference when i changed to shooting .20 from .22 15 years ago, also why does pcp air rifles seem to fire pellets faster than sringers? i have done a hell of an amount of shooting all my life and cant work out if this is all in my head!
  14. has anyone got any info about .25 non fac air rifles for hunting, also what exactly is the science behind the ftlbs measurement?
  15. yes m8, ive just found it now on the net cheers
