  1. I'm currently doing insane amount of overtime at work and have been for the past 4 months (mainly paying stuff off) and I'm now booked in for additional guaranteed overtime up to my September payday which will net me another £800 after tax. I'm now in the market for a nice PCP air rifle. £800 is my top end for the RIFLE, ignore the cost of scope etc at this time. It needs to be a multi-shot rifle with option to swap it out for single shot for target work, Initially it will be for range and target work and eventually for vermin shooting too. I'm looking at a .177 too primarily due to the flatter trajectory. I like the styling of all 3 and I've had a chance to shoot with a Mk1 R10 so far. I'm also pushing towards the R10 because of the large shot count per fill. So far I've priced up the rifles (rifle only) BSA R10 Mk2 Bull Barrel: £699.99 HW 100S FSB: £749.99 Daystate Huntsman Regal: £808 I would appreciate thoughts and feedback from owners of any of the above please
  2. Mini update: Had the Airsporter and the Meteor down the range this morning and ran them over the Chrono. Meteor Mk2 is pumping out about 4.2 ft lbs on average from its original 8 ft lbs so it's basically dumped half its power for 52 years without and love Airsporter Mk1 is pumping out about 7.2 ft lbs on average from its original 10.5 ft lbs so not as bad as the meteor and held up fairly well for being 56 years old and hasn't had any love. Restoration on the Airsporter starts next week!
  3. Cheers for the reply johnbaz. I'm currently pondering about sending the metal work to Colin Malloy as i hear and read nothing but good for his hot bluing and Sanding and oiling the stock and polishing and lubing the internals myself.
  4. Well picked up my fathers old air rifles on Wednesday so need to get them down the range this weekend and then time for the restoration. They are in better condition than they look.
  5. Keeping in the family as they are my fathers so they will be restored and i will pass them on to my kids. Sentimental value and all
  6. @johnbaz and falconFN I've seen some of your work on here with Airsporters what would you recommend to use for cold bluing and oiling the stock as im picking these up on Wednesday so the project will soon begin. More photos to come once i've picked them up
  7. Eh up and welcome from up the road
  8. Cheers for the response, the mk1 had silver internals, the mk2 has black internals and a groove on the top rail and the mark 3 has black internals, the rail groove and an aor splitter on the barrel end which can be unscrewed, a half inch inf adapter screwed on and then it can take a moderator. Can you take a photo of the barrel end just to be sure pls if its the mk3 im interested but i suspect its a mk 2 ;(
  9. Welcome to the forum from another Notts lad
  10. To summarize I'm going back to my family home in a weeks time to pickup a couple of BSA airguns that belong to my father (which hes given me) that are circa late 50's/ early 60's, to bring them to my house to then take down my range, run them over the chrono and have a chap at the range (who is a BSA enthusiast and restores rifles) to have a look over them and quote me for the work needed on them. The problem i have is currently I'm not driving so when i go and pick these up I'll be on the train (not a main line and fairly quiet on the trains). They will be in a largish rectangular nondescript gun bag but I am a bit concerned about traveling with them and where i stand. My understanding is as long as they are transported safely, properly and i have due excuse i am fine. My excuse being i am collecting them with the aim of taking them down the range shortly after and for repair/servicing. Is there anything else I need to know or should be doing? I've read all the relevant airgun literature and even went to the extent of contacting my local FLO to see if they could advise or point me in the right direction but i got a standard unhelpful response to an airgun pamphlet >.> I was pondering if i could also cover myself by printing out a receipt/invoice and having my father sell them to me for £1 and then both of us fill out the receipt as proof of sale and purchase so if anyone queries them i can show I am transporting them after purchasing them or is this way OTT and due to cause more trouble than its worth? Help and thoughts are needed and welcome
  11. Is this the "mk2" or "mk3" variant. Eg does it have the air splitter with the tool for removing it? Also have you ever ran it over a chrono?
  12. Slinging my hat in the ring as there is a very active chilli growing thread in the food section for another forum i'm part of.Currently housing 8 Aji limon plants and 7 Scotch Bonnets all indoors. my first year growing. Completely messed the Aji Limons up as let them get too lanky before nipping the tops out to encourage growth so they are tall and a bit lanky but have started to busk out now and funnily enough are producing Chillis pretty much 1 for every flow with no flower drop. The scotch Bonnets on the other hand are nice little bushy plants which i didn't even have to touch to get them like that and they have 30+ flowers on each but 95-99% of the flowers are dropping off after their bloom period Few of my Aji's One of my scotch bonnet plants... there are dozens of buds in each nook nd crevis but barely any chilli's growing on it
  13. As soon as you expect a confrontation i would start recording a video of any interaction. Its all to easy for someone anti shooting to say you were acting in a threatening manner and put a call in to the police and quickly have armed rozzers all other you. Personally when i finally get myself setup and a perm or 2 ill be sporting a go pro on my shoulder turning it on for any human interaction to cover myself....
  14. Not my first post but thought i should say hi! Just started attending a range, air pistol shooting after being away from shooting completely for 15 years (since i was a teen) I'm currently looking to get on a probationary period with the range i've just started to attend and hopefully become a full member. So far the guys that run it and the folks that attend are quite solid chaps who i think i get on well with. Short term: Looking to become an established member of my local range and start shooting some family "heirlooms" airgun wise, once they're restored Mid term: Looking to pickup a nice PCP and obtain some permissions for rabbit and general vermin hunting as well as range work. Long Term: FAC and maybe SGC. Quite keen eventually to start shooting .22lr Long Long Term: Would love to pickup a Mk4 Enfield and shoot .303. Picked one up about 10 years ago and it just felt..... right! If i can get to my Mid term goal i will be content. Anything after that is just gravy! Cheers Zenduri aka Andy
  15. Considering FAC air rifle can fire a 303 lump of lead at 100ftlbs and easily put down a boar let alone a human. i personally think keeping the 12ftlbs in place and making them FAC restricted is fine. I would be in favor of a Airgun cert if on the initial implementation it grandfathers in those who are already shooting sub 12ft/lb for next to no charge as long as they file their application in a certain time frame from the act and they can prove they are shooting at a range or on a permission. I would then be up for the limit pf selling pellets to only people who could show they have a Airgun cert, Also as long as there are no requirements to keep it in a gun cabinet with it being sub 12 ft/lbs. if clubs/ranges support new starters by providing equipment at the ranges and then the individual can show they are a member of said club or range then i would feel allowing them a cert to then buy air weapons under 12ft lbs and pellets would be ok Had a bit to drink sorry if that doesn't make entire sense!
  16. Cheers for that Mark, The airsporter is a Mk1 due to the serial, just wasn't sure on the meteor,
  17. It looks different I will give you that! Interested to see what it will look like once finished
  18. Indeed. All going well i'm off back to the family roost next weekend to pick them up hopefully then take them to the range to be chrono'd to see how much they have bled. After that it's time to have a chat with the chap at the range about him possibly restoring them for me. I really want to have a crack at it myself but not with these 2 as they have meaning for me but with something cheap that i can have a pop at so if i make a mistake I wont be too cut up
  19. The Serial on the trigger is for the Airsporter which is a Mk1. The meteor will be a Mk1 or 2 but im not sure which. The range I've just started attending has a BSA enthusiast/ collector and restorer as one of the chairmen who has offered to have a look and maybe restore. So i may be handing it over to him to do properly as these are of sentimental value for me. I wouldn't mind finding something similar to buy cheap to have a go restoring myself though!
  20. New to the forums but an avid lurker! Anyway i've just decided to get back to shooting air rifles and my father is giving me his 2 old air rifles. The last time i saw/shot them was about 15 years ago as teen and at the time they were in fairly good condition kept in a cupboard in my grandmothers house. Anyway fast forward 15 or so years and my father went to pick them up from my grandmothers and some dire news :( The airsporter it turns out had been liberated by my braincell vacant cousin as well as the meteor. While the meteor doesnt look too bad the airsporter looks like its been kept in a damp cellar :( Needless to say they werent his to take and hes obviously mistreated them and as my fathers understandably angry. So here we are, I'll be picking them up in a fortnights time and taking them to my local range to run the chrono over them to see how bad they are. They obviously need a service and damn good refurb. I'm willing to spend time and money on them as i consider them as part of my family history that i would like to pass on to my kids when i have them but obviously i don't want to end up spending a fortune. Thoughts..... are these saveable without spending an absolute fortune? Also can anyone identify is this a Mk1 or Mk2 Meteor.... I suspect Mk1 Sick Airsporter Mk1 :( Meteor Mk1?
