  1. Don't worry - I am not pretentious - just practical - and done13 years forces so I have done the real thing in real situations!! Up to 84mm - http://www.paradata.org.uk/content/carl-gustav-anti-tank-weapon I have already had lessons with Brian (Beretta on here) who I found through these forums and will be having a few more from him. Indeed I phoned him after finding the gun I am getting to ask his advice before putting the deposit down. I had tried to book him for one of the two previous weekends but he was booked up. I had great pleasure when my eldest lad was MSA karting (and you should see the money that splashed about in that) turning up with a set up that cost £750 inc a trailer for him to whip other kids whose parents had spent thousands on engines and bought motor homes specifically for going to the track - these were cadets ages 8-11!!! Money does not make up for lack of skills and boy could my lad drive. Thanks for the recommendations on kit Cheers Steve
  2. Far from it, just an animal lover (and not in that way!!!) and love birds (feathered and non-feathered )
  3. Also check with the manufacturer as some boiler manufacturers give a 5 year warranty - although this is usually dependant on them being maintained
  4. I only have one thing to say to you Your barred you have got to see it to understand it - Laughing as I am typing this and had tears down my face and I went by myself while working away (cheap night Tuesday's) The only criticism I have is the end dropped off a little bit compared to the first 80% Steve
  5. Sounds like you had the best of the compromise - but I do feel the same as her about live kills - just the way people are made!! Had crossed my mind - but have you heard the saying Marriage is grand - divorce is a hundred grand ..... ......as long as that includes a bedsit (if you are lucky).... .....Would have been cheaper overall in the long run....and I would be in a Porches now !!!
  6. Hi Jabb, do you have a link - I can only find them for £70ish besides ebay where the listings have ended
  7. Thanks for all the feedback guys I know the carts may seem a bit OTT from SWMBO but she is over cautious with having kids in the house which I do respect. For the moment I will leave the status quo and preserve the peace. Also, what is the shelf life on cartridges?? I will have a look at the other items mentioned above with a look at purchasing some if not all Jabb - how do you get on with your 682 Gold E??
  8. I will nick my son's Sébastien Ogier cap for a peak - I have a cheap pair of yellow tinted for eye protection that Beretta (PW handle) but would be looking to pick something better up ideally - so ay recommendations on eyewear (upto £40ish) would be appreciated - or any sunglasses that could also do the job would be good as I could extend the budget for the dual usage element as I need some new sunglasses as well
  9. Hi HDAV - See my post above about SWMBO and having ammo in the house!!!
  10. Hi Flynn, Just shooting Clays - Wife would divorce me if I went after "live" targets As for carts - I compromised with the Wife and will only be purchasing on site when I go - Depending on how often I end up getting to go and play - I may work on her about this Steve
  11. Hi Everybody, well, after a successful interview yesterday the FEO told me to find a gun and put a deposit on it. I went to Bamfords this morning and ended up putting a deposit on a 682 Gold E 30" Sporter which looked to be in lovely condition. They have also said if I don't get on with it I can exchange and their used guns come with 3 months warranty. Had a bit of a reduction on the S/H price, and there is also a possibility of a slip being thrown in . I already have a set on (Beratta) ear defenders, a Musto vest and a long hard case at home (been buying bits to quench my thirst while waiting for my ticket) - and I am now asking what to buy next, to compliment the new addition to my empty cabinet, to cover the next areas Gun Care what is recommended for the wood on the gun? Cleaning Any (complete) kits recommended for making sure it stays in tip top condition Pimping etc Should I really get into this at this early stage, and if so, what would be a good pimp for the gun - not for bling but would be good to have? Any recommendations/advice will be greatly appreciated Thanks Bob (Steve)
  12. Looks like I struck lucky!! Only one hole where I hit a void and that was a central bolt so I used the concrete bolts all round and job's a good one - it isn't going anywhere in hurry. Let's see the FEO work up a sweet on that!! I saw an immaculate Beretta SP 30" sporter at McAvoys yesterday - they sold it earlier this year and bought it back a couple of months later and it looked like it had not been used at all - a tadge over £1100 but they have an option to take it back within 7 days for any reason and you will get a full refund which is I think is very reasonable. I may phone about a few dealers though to see what can be done on New. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have a 525 in to compare against though Cheers Steve
  13. Unpacked the safe last night and it has 6 bolt holes rather than the 4 I was expecting, so I am going to do 2 on resins (top and bottom RHS) and the other 4 on the concrete bolts. It is being fitted into a corner so no leverage can be got on the opening side (LHS). The ****** is that I dug out my stuff last night and I only have one bar left for the resin so will have to buy a pack from screwfix/toolstation along with some resin. I have several concrete bolts already Thanks Dorianbuilders for the offer - however I have several concrete bolts already. On the way home today (working in Preston) I am going to call into McAvoy's in Standish for a drool at some guns as well
  14. Hi Telf, Do you mean resin bolts or the concrete bolts Cheers Steve
  15. Unfortunately, I don't have the floor space to do that - the wife would have kittens if I done that downstairs - along with parts of my anatomy that I am rather attached to!!
  16. Thanks Apache, I cant use the expanding due to not knowing if I am going to hit a cavity in the block and also the expanding force could cause the block to crumble- these concrete bolts are non-expanding - drill a hole and bolt these in with a ratchet/spanner as the thread bites into the concrete/sand and cement - almost like a self tapper in metal Thanks
  17. Hello everybody I have been hanging about for several weeks now reading incognito - but after 10 weeks of waiting I have my interview next week for my SGL and took delivery of a safe yesterday. I am fitting it to a wall in our smallest bedroom which consists of hollow concrete block. I have fixed items (articulate wall mount for plasma) using resin sleeves before, however that was because of the moments involved when the screen was pulled away from the wall and I am stuck with what to do when we don't want a wall mounted screen - or want it elsewhere!!! This would happen with the safe as well if I used the same system (still got bars and sleeves, I would just need the resin), so I was wondering if the firearms guy would be happy if I used these concrete bolts which I have used in the garage, which if we did need to re-locate the safe, would leave just 4 holes that would need filling rather than having to take something like an angle grinder to the wall to cut back the bolts to below the surface (solid plaster on top of block) Your thoughts and advice would be most welcome A little bit about me - I have had a couple of lessons with Beretta (Brian) up a Faux Degla (North Wales based) and I am now looking forward to getting out a couple of times a month (will that turn to week?) to shoot some clays.I am afraid to say that personally I would not be shooting game although I have absolutely no problem with anybody who does do that - it is just not for me I will also now have to start looking around to get my first gun!! I haven't really bothered besides occasional looks on here and gunstar but I will more than likely be looking at the main 3 mid-range starters - Beratta/Browning/Miroku and undecided if I go new or second hand - I have a budget of up to £1.5K (don't tell the wife!!) and I am always looking for the best deal! Cheer Steve
