  1. over the last 3 months I have seen no sign of deer on my permissions except the odd foot print in the mud. Are they just all laying low with young or have they all been abducted by aliens? When can I expect to see them again? Sorry for the double post put this in the wrong section the first time

  3. DRT is Dynamic Research Technologies.
  4. DRT terminal shock ammo, looks interesting so wanted a box to try and see how it performs, but was disappointed when I found out it's either Amsterdam, Germany or USA I'm sure some other country's do it too https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gVgfohZexjk
  5. I have seen some ammo I would like to give a try but the closest place to me I can get it is Amsterdam, Im in England. Can I order it and have it shipped to my local rfd? Or Can I ask my local rfd to order some in for me? Or Do I just have to sit here without it? Secret option 4 (insert soloution here)
  6. Was shooting them with .243 under mentor. Recently got a .308 and had mentor removed, asked for deer, fox etc was told no problem sent in licence all is good
  7. I am also in Devon and I got my mentor taken off a couple of weeks ago with out the need to do a dsc1, My licence says on it I can shoot any lawful game this would include deer, so check what your licence says if it has 'any lawful game' on it then you should be fine as long as they are in season
  8. The hmr does everything the .22 does but better just the noise is louder can't see why .22 is more popular
  9. I have got an hmr already and as far as I can see all the .22 would offer is silence and cheaper ammo. I have no worries about needing a silent shot and the ammo price is not a problem anyway so am I missing any positives to having a .22 as well? Just got it in my head I want a .22 the same make and model as my hmr to have a matching pair lol
  10. So does BASC cover for in the field game shooting/stalking on their insurance? My cover with cpsa is up soon and seems they are not well favoured here at all so would like to know
  11. You guys need to move down to Devon I just sent in my fac for a mentor removal, .243 removal and .308 to be added on Friday and I just got it back today exactly 1 week later, this is the second time I have sent my licence in for amendment and got it back within a week, I'm super impressed with Devon and Cornwall firearms department
  12. Don't worry bays I just phoned my local rozza he said no problem at all just gotta send my licence and letters off and I'm hot to trot. Thanks for the replys
  13. I shoot mainly deer but the farm I shoot request I keep the fox/rabbit populations down to (got hmr for the rabbits) oh and got offered the chance to shoot boar a couple of times but couldn't as I can't with a .243 so would need the .308 and I would need an open ticket to do so as they only want shooting there when there is a problem not as a regular weekly stalk I have had a mentor for close to 5 months now we have been out a lot and I have shot over 200 rounds with him there
  14. Hi I m in the process of trying to get my mentor condition lifted, my mentor is happy with my shooting/gun safety and is doing me a letter to send with my FAC. While sending it in I am also going to ask them to remove my .243 and add a .308 which I would need to be able to use on any lawful animal as it would be my only centre fire rifle and at the same time get a less restrictive licence so I don't have to keep getting land added to my licence when I am asked to take care of pest problems on farms. Would I be better off just keeping it short and sweet with bullet point requests or fluff it up abit to try and show them I know what I'm doing a bit better?
  15. Sweet the 4 shot is way to small imo, I will be watching and waiting for the 10 shot release and will be first on the list to buy one. Good find rimmie
  16. Devon and Cornwall did my grant in 1week after the feo came round, and after that it took 4 working days to change the ammo amounts for me very impressed with them
  17. Sunday is the only full day off that I get working 6 1/2 days a week so I vote defo shoot on a Sunday if you want to everyone needs to let off steam. If you have permission to shoot the land and want to shoot it then go for it, worse case scenario police turn up you explain the situation show your permission and crack on
  18. I voted from dealer in bulk I buy them atleast 1000 at a time saves multiple trips to the local sportsman
  19. Ok thanks for all the answers everyone seems I should just shoot what gives me best results and not worry about it, being new to the game when I heard about barrel burn out got me thinking but seems it is not a massive problem so I will be happy. Thanks again and happy hunting
  20. Roughly how much faster? I know it's not an exact science but is it a few hundred of a few thousand quicker? Also what about fast heavy loads just got some 100g that go 2900+fps which if memory serves is what the 55g ones I have move at so will the heavier one be better to use or will they cause more wear?
  21. I am being told that switching from a 100g sako soft point to a 55g Winchester ballistic silver tip will burn my barrel out quicker. Reason for this is the speed the round travels is much faster. I have looked online a little bit and seen people saying the heavier loads contribute more to barrel burn out due to needing more powder to get it moving and the slower barrel exit time means the gases are burning for longer. Now I am very new to centre fire shooting but surely this is all just such a minimal difference (millionth of a second kinda stuff) you should just shoot what ever ammo you get the best results with. So I am looking for some kind of clarification on a couple of things, firstly I am shooting a .243 tikka T3 lite (and loving it๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป) and main quarry is roe,fox and sometimes fallow so is barrel burn out a common thing? How many shots can it take hundreds/thousands/ hundreds of thousands? What is actually better light fast rounds or slower heavy ones? If I think of anything else I will add it later thank you in advance for any info you can give
  22. Thank you all for the replys helpful as usual
  23. Which form the application one again? Niether of us can find a form for 1for1
  24. Just looked on Devon and Cornwall police site but can't see a form about a 1for1 only for selling or buying a gun
  25. I have just got my licence and got a .243 tikka t3 off a friend and he wants his slot back does he have to fill in a form for a 1for1 variation or just send in a letter stating he has sold the rifle and would like a 1for1?
