  1. Have a look on blackcircles, they do bf's and some falken a/ts. Just bought the bf's so no real report on how loud they are or their road manners but they seem to be the tyre of choice for most.
  2. Thanks for the replys, I'm in Gosport but if I really get stuck I will contact you thanks.
  3. Manual seems to be the way then for simplicity, will scour eBay for a bargin
  4. Looking for a adjustable rear work light for the pick up, it has a truck top on so will be bolted on to that. I want to wire it in so it can be used when reversing for hitching trailers etc. at night and the ability to turn it on manually when loading. So 2 questions, any ideas ideally led, and how to wire it so it only comes on when reversing at night but can be turned on manually aswell. Thanks Karl
  5. Thanks for the offer, I will also bear you in mind if I find anything.
  6. Tensile strength is something like force x cross sectional area which you already have for the fixing, you need the pull force generated weight x distance so kgxmeters which for yours will be around 5.26 kg. So you have to be able to hold a verticle weight of 22ish kg plus a extra force of 5 ish kilos 'pulling' the bolt out of the wall, if that makes sense. I'm sure I may be corrected but that's a rough guide, the fixing will be fine the way it is fixed is a weak point, gorilla glue is a good thing to put on the thread as it will expand in the cavity and offer more support if the block is suspect.
  7. What fixings do you have? The type of wall you are bolting into will also effect the type of fixing you need. The layout of the fixing points will also play apart. The further from the wall the more 'pull' force will be placed on the top fixings, a good m8 bolt and suitable fixing combo in a solid wall will do, or some m8 coach type screws into a substantial noggin.
  8. Very basic is to multiply the weight of the 'thing' you are hanging by the furthest distance from the the wall fixing, however centre of gravity will also have an effect
  9. Brown sauce or is that for brass?
  10. That's the problem, I'm competing with people who can do it regularly. Too be honest I have found a fair few places to shoot if I was home more they just want someone who can turn up at the drop of a hat so I've declined the offer as I'm not the sort of person to say yes and not deliver, I would rather someone who had the time and needed land have it.
  11. Thanks for the reply, I have been in contact with langstone wildfowlers and waiting for news on membership as that would be ideal.
  12. I'm having a few problems finding a steady permission due to my job. I serve in the Navy and am based in Scotland so can only shoot when I'm at home near Portsmouth. I have land back in my home town (Warrington), it is in the family so they know And understand I carnt complete regular 'Pest control' as I work away but let me use it to get some fresh air, chill out and keep my eye in when I'm home. I'm struggling really down here as I feel cheeky when I explain my position as I cannot really commit to be there regularly. Just asking for the odd days sport if I spot rabbits/pigeons is not really getting me anywhere, as I cannot pitch the whole keep me notified if you get overrun, short notice or when you plant x,y,z on your field. I've tried paying for days but it's not really my thing, I prefer a good wander round roost or lamping type thing with a bit of freedom. I've offered work on farms etc.. But again as I cannot commit year round I hit a dead end as most have people who can do it at short notice. Sorry for the long post but I'm just after abit of advice or pointers either how to pitch my proposal or any other tips off people who have been in this position. Thanks Karl
  13. Cracking pictures, no snow down here. That looks much more fun.
  14. Hello, few people on here from Warrington. Where abouts? Had a few pcp's over the years as well, what's it for mainly?
  15. Watched Jacksonville Jaguars in America, good atmosphere when it gets going but found it hard to watch with all the stops compared to rugby/football. Only good bits were the cheerleades firing tshirts into the crowd and the whole day out experience, BBQ few beers etc...
  16. Also from Hampshire, hopefully getting my visit in the next few weeks.
  17. I've got double cab ranger 56 plate, brilliant for carrying gear around and chucking muddy dogs in the back. Will go pretty much anywhere you point it once it has decent tyres on it, not too rough day to day driving either.
  18. Hello. This was supposed to be my first post but I spotted another thread I had to reply to first. I'm Karl currently serving as a submariner in the RN based in Scotland, I was put onto this website by wildfowler12 who happens to live next to my mum and dad in Warrington. I live near Portsmouth shooting interests are mainly rough/vermin shooting. Just getting back into it after a few years off with being away on deployment etc... Still got my air rifle, and my SGC should becoming in the next few weeks, had to give it up while I moved around. I Hoping to get back into the rough shooting, meet a few new friends and keep my eye on the opportunities page. Thanks Karl
  19. My 1st post was supposed to be in the intro section, however spotting this thread I felt I should reply. I know how you feel, currently serving submariner living in Portsmouth, based in Scotland originally from Warrington. I had to put my shooting on hold for a while with being away and lost land and contacts due to not being able to devote the time to a 'permission'. when I'm home its hard trying to get some odd day shooting without dropping the forces card as I have to explain the situation, I have also got the same reaction as you about thinking we should get things as we are in the forces. My advice is just keep asking around something will turn up. I joined this website for the very reason you are asking so hopefully some one will help you out.
