  1. Responded, but suggested that they may be better addressing drug gang  cultures that use these tools illegitimately as weapons, rather than targeting legitimate users.

Also suggested legalising pepper spray as self defense option instead of illegally carrying a bladed article.

    From 2022 Gov statistics.....

"The proportion of homicides that have involved drug users or dealers, or have been related to drugs in any way, has increased over the last decade, from 43% in the year ending March 2012 to 52% in the year ending March 2022."

"Almost a third (32%) of victims were known to be drug users, and 15% were known to be drug dealers. These proportions were higher among suspects with 46% known to be drug users and 29% known to be drug dealers."

    Bit of an 'experiment', and not real sushi (i.e. no raw fish), but;

    • Ham and asparagus
    • Pastrami and gherkin
    • Smoked trout and cucumber
    • Tandoori salmon and mango chutney

Your rice looks very dry, I normally cook short grain (sushi) rice by weight, 100g rice to 200ml water plus 10ml bring to boil with lid on, give a quick stir, replace lid and then turn cooker off but leave on the ring and leave for 20min.

Should produce a slightly sticky rice for use.

Thanks for that Stonepark would that be the same as TSS 18 but with further ,more or less packing for load  height ?

You will need to adjust slightly more packing than lead (11.3) or Tss (15.0).

If you are using BPI plastic TPS wads, I cut mine down to fit the load and then add a filler wad below to bring height back up.

  4. Not tested as such but....

BPI in 3 inch quote 14gr of lilgun and 5\8oz  TSS 15 in Cheddites hull for 1215ftsec and 12650psi which is near top end.

11\16 oz 3" lead loads using 13gr lilgun come in at 13,500psi (which is top end) for 1135ftsec

2.5" lead 1\2oz loads using 13gr of lilgun come in at an average of 11500 psi for 1200ftsec

13gr would be a safe place to be.

  5. Most silvery fry patterns, clousers, etc will work.

Most common depth is 3 to 6 feet at early light, I normally wade gently in to about boollocks depth and cast from there into likely areas with weedy stoney areas preferred, rather than pure sand but it depends on estuary type and how the low tide pools form from the river\burn entering the sea.

I have no idea of the muzzle velocity here but can't imagine it being much less than 1000ft/sec in which case there's enough poke at the recognised level to kill a cock pheasant at 20 yards

Looking at the cartridge loaded, I suspect more like 800ftsec which is what Cheddites 24g version goes out at.

My 21g home loads with 13.5gr of powder come up over the brass with a couple of mm to the OPC, and go out supersonic on warms days and subsonic on cold days (1070ftsec) whilst the Cheddite\Bornaghi 24g "wad" bottom sits below the brass and has to propel another 3g and stay under pressure.

Walker do you find a significant  difference between chokes in .410 cal .

I was having a play the other day swapping out chokes and thought that there was very little between even cylinder 5 ""'  and full '   possibly half "' was the tightest  with the carts I was using .

As I have posted previously, with the 410 especially, it is definitely worth measuring and patterning each choke tube.

My OU (Khan Arms\Revo) patterns best with 15 thou of choke (light mod). Above or below this, the pattern is poorer.

Cartridge choice shifts the percentages up or down depending on the quality but the order of ability of the chokes tends to stay the same.

Personally, I cannot support any party. Both Labour and Conservatives have some policies that I agree with and others that I don't, and in my own area even if I wanted to support Labour it would make no difference, even a monkey wearing a blue rosette would win - and has! Actual democracy can only exist in marginal seat.

Back in 1887 Lord Acton wrote that " Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely" and I think that the current government has proved this to be true, it's time for a change even if the replacement is far from perfect.

Which leaves us with Labour, because I see no point in voting for the Liberals, Greens or anyone else that cannot win.

But, as a shooter, I worry that Labour will be even worse for us than the conservatives.

The only reason the smaller parties don't win is the media construct that if you don't vote conservative, labour will get in and if  you don't vote labour the conservatives will get in, when their policies are with few exceptions going to be almost the same failing policies and as the media are happy with this arrangement as they represent the controlling powers reflected in ther larger parties.

In truth, if the disaffected and those who don't vote, voted Reform (for instance), both Labour and the Conservatives would suddenly find themselves in a three way fight everywhere.

Smaller parties can not win and therefore nothing will change, if you keep voting for the same large party to keep the other large party out or dont vote.

When i was at school you didnt have the choice. You had to eat everything. Mind you, if you didnt like eggs some other kid would serupticially have it off you

but in those days there weren't militant religious groups of parents who would sue the school at the slightest excuse. Should their offspring accidentally eat the wrong thing

Also food fad parents who have to catered for with all their weird notions.

Ah but that can now work to our advantage... for a Keto meal (meat inclusive, carb light) when schools ask if the kids are allergic to anything, you can put down quorn, insects, soya, plant protein etc in order to insure they get good wholesome meat and dairy on their plate.

I’ve looked at a couple of different brands and models but just can’t get beyond the cost per pint - Compared to just getting tins of draught Guinness (my usual tipple), it doesn’t make sense for me to get one.

Sorry, that probably doesn’t help much 😂

You will definately not wish to consider Guinness's latest offering then....

It's a really odd situation.  The cartridges are great and the gun shot loads of them spraying the ejected cases all over the place.  It isn't my gun but it shot well and strangely enough it was only some cartridges that did this.  One primer that was blown out got into the bolt action area and jammed the whole lot solid.  We had to strip the for end, the barell, the gas piston.  The bolt was stuck firmly so I manualy jerked the action bar and suddenly a mangled primer fell out off the action.  Reassembled it shot ok and ejected ok.  I took a picture which shows a primer on top of the semi ejected case jammed between the case and the top of the action.  Because this happens at super high spèd there is no way of knowing quite what is happening.

You don't give the make and model of the semi, however the blown primers are telling you the problem..... either,

    1. The gun is not going into battery (i.e. the bolt is not locked as the gun is fired) or
    2. The gun is coming out of battery too early.

On the semi auto, either there is carbon or crud build up on the bolt lugs or or the barrel lugs stopping bolt locking in place and/or the spring within the bolt head is too weak due to crud and/or/broken and being unable to close the rotating bolt head during firing are the most likely causes and the former is easy to check, whilst the latter can be more challenging.

I would suggest as first step, a full strip (including taking the bolt apart) and a good clean of all parts of carbon and crud!

We were having an informal clay shoot and a mate was using 2x28 gauges.  1 was a Beretta O/U AND the other was an auto.  When using the auto, the primers were dislodging from the case and generally jamming between the spent case and the top of the action. In one case we had to remove the barrel, the gas piston and linkage.  A lot of wiggling and tapping of the action to get the mangled primer out of the action.  Shooting recontinued.  Never ever seen or heard of this ones.  Bornagi cartridges.

Were the primers showing issues with the OU?

If not, did any other ammo get used with the Semi Auto?

Is it possible the semi auto is unlocking before the pressure has dropped causing the primers which are only friction fit to blow out?

The bigger more expensive metal detectors will detect lead, mine does. Old battle sites are popular for detecting lead ball shot. I don't know if you would get a small cheap wand type to detect lead shot.

Used to have fun watching metal detectorists getting excited on field next door to an old wood with a rookery (adjacent a historic site), finding nowt but my catapult ammo that had been shot at the crows etc, both 9mm steelies and 38 cal lead balls and they were finding both.

Let’s see if someone more knowledgeable is reading this because I was under the impression that lead doesn’t show up if you watch the game and wildlife programs on tv the game wardens check the cartridges with a magnet to see if using steel as it picks up.

Neither are tungsten, Bismuth, Copper or Silver magnetic.

If on the otherhand, you nickel plate lead, it will show up as magnetic.
