Bloke from DAI Leisure turned up today with my new Weihrauch HW45, pellets & spinny target. Pellets fine, spinny target fine, gun was the wrong calibre. Good job the surly ***** had reluctantly waited because I’d insisted on checking it or I wouldn’t have been able to chuck it all back at him & tell him to do one.

Think the general consensus is their 21g are an excellent 21g while the 28g are merely average 28g

Keep seeing Comp X 24g being mentioned, they don’t make a a 24g version of Comp X it’s only available in 21 or 28g

PSG is what I want it for

Saw an interesting looking bit of kit in a skip near work a few years back so I took it home & Googled it, turned out to be for re-gassing car air con systems. Powered it up, seemed ok, stuck it on eBay for spares or repair and it made £480! Despite my fears at the buyer being disappointed if it didn’t work properly he was delighted and told me they’re thousands new and he wanted it for spares Better than that though was in the early 80’s my Dad found a guitar amp in a skip (60W Laney Supergroup valve head for those who’re interested) which he diagnosed as only needing new valve bases - the thing was though that when we went to buy valve bases the guy in the shop had another similar amp in his shed which he let us have for £20, so I now had two which I used for years, one on top of t’other in the Sabbath way. They both earned four figure sums when I sold them in the 00’s.

Well I reckon the whole setup is ****** and it should be modelled on the DVLA - have a little plastic photo FAC with your entitled categories on the back like a driving license all linked to a central headquarters and every gun has a V5. None of this one force follows HO guidelines and one makes up its own rules malarkey and the doctors’ meal ticket fixed and made part of the application fee. Job done.

It seems then you have to have both FAC & SGC which I can only assume is another money making exercise because all your shotguns could be easily held on the FAC whether section 1 or 2 they’re all guns.

I do a bit of PSG so that would be my reason, I don’t plan on getting super competitive at it and I’m not a fan of extended mags but 5 shots would be handy for poppers etc but I’m weighing up whether it’s worth all the extra faff of FAC.

If you want more than 2+1 in an auto is it a fresh FAC application (stating what you want to use it for) and the gun moved from a SGC to a FAC or are the licenses somehow combined?

Hold on.. I’ve just seen the words ‘weather permitting’ on the PSG calendar dates, am I about to find out PSG isn’t done in the rain?

So far I was thinking of a M2 Comfortech - they seem to be a well regarded gun for the money and I might just still be able to smuggle it into sporting clays... it being black and everything if I stick to the shady bits..

Tbh I use GT a fair bit and I’ve sold many airguns deacs & shotguns over the years, I found people will travel great distances for the gun they want if the price is right. Idiots can usually be weeded out at the email stage - I just say it’s sold.

Thanks. Well I have to start somewhere and I’m erring towards buying an auto (2+1) and leaving it stock just to get a feel for PSG then if I take to it I’ll sell/trade/mod as required. I’m quite taken by the M2 but unsure of ideal barrel length, logic says the shortest barrel would be best for fast target acquisition & poking through firing windows etc, or is that wrong?

Hope this is in the right place, I’m new to the forum.. I’ve lately gotten very curious about trying this PSG business and was thinking about what it would mean buying guns, I have a section 2 license so bear that in mind. Is it better to get a semi auto or a pump? I figured with a pump there less worry about cycling and less to go wrong but it would be largely useless for anything else whereas I could do clays with an auto if I didn’t take to PSG but I don’t know what’s the norm for PSG and why? Would it be: Cheap sec 2 pump? Decent sec 2 pump that can be converted to sec 1 if required? Cheap sec 2 auto to try PSG then sell it (are PSG autos different from sport ones?) Decent sec 2 auto that can also be used for clays (a400?) then trade for sec 1 if required later? Or should I just watch more YouTube videos then ask better questions 😮
