Paul in North Lincs.
Whilst on a quite coastal road this morning I spotted a Red Backed Shrike in a hawthorn hedge by the road side. For those remotely interested in bird watching, you will know that this quite a rarity indeed. I watched it for a couple of minutes until it spotted lunch and darted away out of sight. Unfortunately I didnt have the camera. It was the first and probably the last sighting I have had of this colourful little bird. If there are any hardcore twichers amongst us, I will give you details of the sighting if you pm me.
lurcherboy
It might be best to keep it to yourself Paul. I have seen hundreds of twatchers turn up on a rumour. LB
Fisherman Mike
Have never seen one... have recorded the Grey a few times.. its interesting how the birds have earned the name of butcher bird by impaling their victims on the thorns of haw and black thorn to be consumed at their convenience.
