Rem223
The trouble is what works in one gun will not necessarily work in your gun. Noslers most accurate load in their 5th edition is 39.5gr of H380 with a 55gr Nosler ballistic tip which also happens to be a max load. However as I said what works for them may not work for you. Start 10% below and work up. Varget and N150 are also good powders. I only use ballistic tips or Vmax/blitzkings for vermin.

Rem223
You should get a decent manual Hornady, Nosler or if you want one that covers a range of bullets the Lyman manual. Then of course there is this website... http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp
humperdingle
As said, people can only say what works in THEIR rifles. Mine seems to like a middle-of-the-road load of the following: 35 grains of Varget, "normal" LR primer and Hornady V-Max 55 grain bullet, all hammered together with a Lee Classic Loader! I don't care much for spending loads of cash on lots of testing to try and find out the infinitesimally (!) smallest group-capable load. If it'll hit a fox within a 2" zone at 150 yards, then i'm happy... a V-Max at 3,500fps will kill a fox just as dead as one going at 4,000 fps+. Blackbart
I keep getting silly ideas on reloading for my 22-250 but at the end of the day i am not trying to hit a fly's *** and the winchester silver tip's hit where i point it and i havent missed a fox in a year.Is it because you cant group reasonable or is it a hobby idea ? You would have to shoot a gazillion foxes to make it save you money by reloading if you just use it for foxes by the time you take into account the set up cost's.If it is for a hobby then go for it,but if it aint broke dont try and fix it. coupe312
mate will load em on his kit for me. just a idea. i've been doing good with privy's not a bad group with the 50gr slightly better with the 55gr. there about £50 a hundred so not reloading for economy. never had any problems with syopping ability either but................ change as good as a holiday and all that
henry d
The reason I wanted to reload was to give me a really good round and reloading did that Here`s the link. If I do my bit it works spectacularly, I wouldn`t have even contemplated anything like that with factory ammo. Best of luck with your reloading and check the legislation regarding your mate loading ammo for you
humperdingle
You also know that fortunes don't HAVE to be spend on starting up. I worked out the cost of my start up to around £80 not including powder / primers / bullets. Classic Lee Loader (Crude, but effective) £20 Digital calipers £12 Digital scales £12 Case trimmer / dechamfer / primer pocket cleaner / shellholder £25 Couple of hammers from around the house £Nil Drill (Again, had this anyway) for case trimming, case cleaning £Nil And couple of other household items - wire wool etc. Primers - £4 per 100 bullets - £18 per 100 Powder - £18 per 100 charges Once fired brass (effectively free if you keep the old factory ones) That's (even with the original set-up cost) £120 for my first 100 rounds. After that, the equipment is paid for, and each consecutive 100 will cost £0.40 per round. That's for .22-250, of course. Others will vary.
