Staffs-Shooter
Being a complete techno phobe can anyone help- I have had a Virus detected warning come up on my AVG Resident Shield as : "While opening file:C:\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Incming\AP1.VBS Virus found VBS/Gedza". Tried doing a full scan & delecting the file but no joy - anyone help?
Cranfield
You must have had Norton AntiVirus on your PC at some time. It seems that AVG has found a virus already quarantined by Norton AV. VBS/Gedza was a low level virus and around about a year ago. If you are having no other symptoms and AVG can't find anything, , then I would assume the virus is inactive. Staffs-Shooter
Thanks. I did have Norton on the PC when i first bought it so that explains that. Only trouble is that each time i open a browser/page the warning flashes up! Should i delete the old Norton program?
Cranfield
I removed Norton from my PC as it gave me problems with XP and I now use AVG. If you no longer use it, you could try removing it and see if that helps.
Frank
I found Norton was a pain :o . AVG is the best you can get in my opinion :o .
The_Craws
Yeh, any experiences I've had with Norton have always been bad. AVG is alright but I think that the updates dont come as quick as a paid for anti-virus program. A while back AVG didnt find virii that were on my computer because when I bought Panda anti-virus with firewall (platinum package) it found about 2 or 3 virii that AVG didnt find - infection was down to a clean windows install and net access without firewall to get updates to in turn protect me from virii!!!. Panda functions flawlessly on XP, the way it should be and Norton should take a leaf out their book. Windows really does suck, I wish I was brave enough to switch to Linux! :o
Frank
Spy Bot and Spywear Blaster are very good as well :o .
sharp_shooter
Norton managed to wipe my system of all windows programs leaving my computer inopperable. Not even the curser on the mouse would move  I hate Norton, wouldn't ever use it again! Gemini
I use Norton and don’t have a problem, but when my wife wanted to play on the internet with her own PC I decided to install AVG and Zone Alarm together on her computer. Seems to work OK and they're both free. G.M.
