Ruger Trigger Mod?

I was wondering if any of you know if it`s possible to modify the stock trigger on a 77/17 HMR. The trigger i believe is set around 6lbs and although i have used it i know if it were lighter shots, especially longer range ones, would be tighter. Kits are available but can the stock trigger be made a little more user friendly?

You can try and allter it yourself, but i would reccomend changing it for a rifle basic.

It does make allot of difference.

A good gunsmith should be able to polish it up a bit and take off any burrs to lighten it.

I put a volquartsen sear in mine. Got it for about $10 but I think they're normally closer to $40... Made a great job of it.

Thanks for the tips. I had originally planned to get a Jard trigger but with weather, work and one thing and another never set the wheels in motion..plus it was working out about £90 and that was with a good exchange rate against the USD at that particular time. I see Midway UK have the rifle Basix unit in stock so it`s an option.
