Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
Just a quick note as it is coming up to that time of year. I have always sent a christmas card and a bottle of whatever to landowners or tenants that have been kind enogh to allow me to shoot ferret. You will be amazed how well this goes down I have over the years gleaned info of pepole what they prefer to drink eat. And then dropped whatever on there doorstep it has given many thousand acres so a little bit out your pocket can pay in the longrun. All the best
Delbert
Yes now is the time to show your gratitude for the permissions a bottle or two of the good stuff goes a long way in keeping you in good graces. Along with the usual things you should be doing through the year replacing dislodged stone on walls chasing stock back into fields etc etc

Hi gram71 This little trick is one of the reasons I have roughly 20 thousand arces to shoot. And have access to a huge amount of birds etc and to think some of the forum members think I talk bull in ref to bag numbers. If some done a little learning from others they might enjoy the same treatment and good fortune as others instead of slagging them off on forums. Have a good day on you invited day out. Regards OTH Excellent idea mate, i've got to hand it to you. don't think i could cope with 20000 acres tho. only have 2 permissions so i thought i'd treat them to something decent, one of them is my father, but the other chap took a big chance taking me on. I'm well chuffed, this has worked out really well, never know, i might get the farm nextdoor, if only for the fact that he might get a £50 bottle of scotch too.. Regards OTH HeLLo OTH,could'nt agree with you more regarding some comments you get on this forum,i have like yourself many acres of land to shoot over and i treat my Farmers and their familys with the utmost respect.i have worked hard over the years to gain the respect from the people i shoot for,and i am in the process of introducing some young lads to the art of pigeon decoying and they shall be taught the correct way of doing so.i will not chance or waste my time on people who have not got any respect for the countryside or their quarry.so keep up the good work OTH.------cheers dave

MORTON
I KNOW WILTS FARMERS ARE VERY BUSY 1 SENT OUT 50 LETTERS TO FRAMERS IN WILTS WITH NO REPLY OVER 50 E-MAILS ANSWERS CAME FROM UP NORTH VERY NICE, BUT TO FAR TO GO THERE MUST BE ONE WILTS FARMER I CAN HELP IF THE FARMER WOULD LIKE TO INTERVIEW ME WE COULD MEET IN ANY PUB ANY TIME BEST TO YOU OR ANY PLACE.. ROUGH SHOOTING OPPORTUNITIES. Dear Sir/Madam I am looking for areas which I can carry out free vermin control of Rabbits, Rats or pigeons in fields or barns. I am also willing to pay a small fee if required. All rules will be respected. I am 58 years old and have 40 years shooting experience and am now retired. I am ex army (23 years 1st Bn Devon & Dorset Regiment) and have competed at Bisley shooting for 15 years for my regiment and won Queens 100 for 2 years. I have also been head of security for an MOD site. I am a full member of the Sportsman’s association and hold public liability insurance. Also full member of BASC. I own an air gun 22 and have 12 shotgun licence and gun. I live at Boscombe Down and am looking for somewhere within a 30 mile radius to enable me to carry out a hobby I very much enjoy. Can shoot 7 days a week night or Day or when you like me too. Any Help or advice would be much appreciated. I will be able to shoot 7 days a week night or day or when you wont. Secruity. I can look out for fly tippers (rubbish) and carry out a fence boundary check and also keep and eye out for trespassers and supply the land owner with written reports on my findings free of charge. Spaniel
We delivered our bottles yesterday and some flowers for Mrs Farmer, and we have another 250 Acres to shoot on, hopefully with a few Bunnies...so well worth the morning out yesterday and we had a good chat with the Farmer
Billy.
Morton, If that letter was put through my door, I'd have thought it was written by a ten year old, not a fifty eight year old. It might be worth looking over it and using a spell/grammar check. You will be amazed at the difference a correctly written letter will make - you want to come across as intelligent, not incapable of a small task, like a letter. Frenchieboy
Couldn't agree more about this time of the year and taking care of your permission owners. I'm off to the wine merchants tomorrow to get "stocked up" and the wife and I have put Sunday aside to go out and visit all of the farmers that have been good enough to give me permission to shoot on their land! It will be worth every penny, including the extra 4 small permissions that I got last week!
