bennyblanco
Bought one of these fox calls along with a new lamp at the weekend and managed to get out for an hour this evening. Saw nothing but a few rabbits and was nearly ready to leave after having a play with the call when I turned and realised this fella was sitting watching me about a 130 yards away. bobbo
i was thinking of asking for a 223. can you just point and shoot at that range or are you aiming under ? i suppose it depends on your zero, how long do they fly flat ? bennyblanco
I zero 1/2" high at 100yds and aim dead on out to 200yds as long as its not a tiny target, they do start to drop a bit after that but generally most shots are 100-150yds unless you have very flat land or massive fields. If I could choose again I would probably go for something a bit faster but there are always down sides such as noise and cost and I don't like using big moderators as I walk a lot of my shoots. steve_b_wales
I've got one of these calls and they are good. However, I get equally, if not better results, by making my own calls, using lollypop sticks and video tape.
Frenchieboy
Well done mate, it's surprising how some of them creap up on you at times isn't it! He looks quite a big fox, shame he will not be celebrating Christmas any more. lol Steve, how about putting a post up showing how you make your callers with lollypop sticks please? (Or PM me with the details)

bennyblanco
Cheers for the comments, our shoot put down a few hundred pheasants and some partridge this year so its been important to keep the foxes down and this one looked very well fed. I was using varying length of calls and biting medium to hard so they were high pitched, I think a quieter call would be useful once you had a fox coming as this one is a bit all or nothing. I would also be interested in seeing pics of the home made ones as I am useless at at calling with the back of my hand.
blackthorn
fox call made from hazel 1 cut hazel down the length giving you two halves 2 leaving half inch each end file a flat to both side of cut hazel(just enough to let the video tape to reverberate between the two slices of hazel 3 place the two sides together with the video tape in the middle tape one side together 4 tension the video tape to get the right squeak, tape the other end 5 if you are like me and cant fined **** all in your pockets add a lanyard 6 now go get them foxes :look: 7 if any body can explain this better please do so
