wymberley
Help, please, Guys, Got it booked in under warranty, but I'm loosing faith with local Ford dealers (had an oil leak from diff./prop shaft joint, oil sprayed all over under side of vehicle and you could smell it on the exhaust - they changed the diff filler plug copper washer!!!). Wouldn't start this AM, engine would hardly turn over. Tried 30 plus minutes later ( by now wife gone in taxi) and all OK. Had battery tested (elsewhere) and apparently OK. Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance, Phil
Paddy Galore!
hi, seems to be happening a lot. cold weather can drain a battery, you may want to check all your leads and give them a clean and a tweak just incase you have an earth leak some where. it doesn't matter if the motor is new, sometimes they come out of the factory like it. hope this helps, gram. wymberley
Gram, Thanks, mate. Unfortunately, I can't do that myself any more; hurts like hell leaning over the engine to check the oil! It was very cold here on Saturday night, didn't use it on Sunday. As it's a diesel and the engine hardly turned, would I be right in thinking that the igniters/heaters didn't come into the equation (no previous problem) and it's probably the starter motor circuit? Thanks again, Phil
Paddy Galore!
depends how old the motor is, some fords have a pre heat, my van doesn't [2001 transit]. maybe the battery is going what with this time of year, running lights all the time etc, if you're anywhere near norwich i'd gladly come over and look over it for you. wymberley
Damnit, moved from Poringland 20 years ago! Many thanks though, I'll just have to hope that the dealer can sort it. Cheers, Phil

wymberley
Loved it, the place and the people. Retired from the RAF and stayed on, but had to return home (Devon) to keep an eye on the old folk. Cheers
wymberley
Want to hear a joke? More duff gen, it was the battery. Vospers (a big SW multi manufacturer dealership, Ford being one) gave me a quote. Punchline: £222 plus VAT. Got a goody from my favourite local tyre, etc, place: £87 all in. Someone is really taking the ****. Cheers
