casts_by_fly
not that it is a destination, but I've seen plenty of pike and some big ones while fishing Driffield Beck for trout. Had one hooked for a few minutes that went 40"+. I don't know that you could fish the beck specifically for pike (its a trout fishery), however it all drains into the local canals which have the same character. One of these days I'll dig out the casting rod and some soft plastics. Thanks Rick

scolopax
Market Weighton canal, which runs through Newport (does not actually reach MW anymore). Not like a normal canal, in fact it is much more like a land drain similar to those in the fens. Quite shallow but has a very good head of pike, average size probably 10-12 lb, but plenty bigger, caught my one and only twenty from there. Have not fished it for a few years but do not think much as changed. Try to avoid it though after a wet spell, it pushes through like a river, wait until a settled dry spell and the piking can be tremendous.
