frankydiver
Just heard on the news that fixed penelty fines (speeding, parking etc) are going up £15. It says this is going to help victims of crime, What a load of ****. Its a case of where can we get some easy money, i know lets hit the car drivers again. the pelt man
Hi Frank Just think you will NOT have to pay the extra if you obey the rules of the road PELTMAN

Chris Bb
I'm desperately trying to "get my brain around" this one. I speed therefore I have to support a crime victim. LOGIC? Sorry, it's just this abominable Government plumbing yet another depth in desperation. It also smacks of their continuing class war, if you can afford a car we'll tax (punish) you further. Roll on the election/revolution, whichever comes first!
Bobbo.
The government needs the money to keep thier sticky fingered MP's nice and warm in thier second homes.

It might not be a vote-winner, but I'm with the Pelt Man on this one. ...you will NOT have to pay the extra if you obey the rules of the road Sorry, that's really all there is to it. Something to do with 'time' and 'crime', as an old saying goes. LS
rjimmer
More resources moved away from solving real crimes, just to get the Government out of debt. I suppose it will be a DNA sample next.
Chris Bb
Something to do with 'time' and 'crime', as an old saying goes. LS, I agree with you 100%, it's just the LOGIC I disagree with. As a motorist I'm already taxed way beyond what is necessary for maintaining the motoring infrastructure. I was once involved in an accident caused entirely by the non motorist who was injured. As the motorist I was charged for the ambulance. Fair? I think not. Same as the above.
lord_seagrave
LS, I agree with you 100%, it's just the LOGIC I disagree with. As a motorist I'm already taxed way beyond what is necessary for maintaining the motoring infrastructure. As we all know, much of the law (or, at least, the reasoning behind it) in this country has got nothing to do with common sense/logic. And I completely agree with you there Chris, it is way too easy to target the law-abiding, and because of this, they are. Cars, just like guns - it's a sentiment shared by all of us on here and there's a rich back-catalogue of threads to show for it. However, I will bang my old drum about the democratic system here if I may. Write to your MP - in the wake of all the sticky-fingeredness last year, he/she should be keen to faithfully represent his/her constituents if he/she wants to keep his/her seats (and second homes ). Or contact the other candidates for election this year, and find out which of them most closely represents your views. Vote with your, erm, vote. Power to the people. I was once involved in an accident caused entirely by the non motorist who was injured. As the motorist I was charged for the ambulance. Fair? I think not. Same as the above. Charging you for the ambulance is a bit rough though, isn't it? How does that work? Did the NHS/Ambulance Service send you a letter afterwards or is there a convenient cash machine in the hospital somewhere? I don't understand. Sorry for derailling the thread, but if someone can explain this, I'd appreciate it. LS

kdubya
If Plod actually got off his harris and caught the criminals, then the leftie liberal judges sentenced them to long spells of porridge! then we should get a rebate. Anyway if truth be known its not about victims of crime its just yet another back door tax, but plod is now the collector not the taxman, KW

LS LS Can't remember exactly but I certainly received a bill, it was for a fixed "token" amount but, as the motorist I was guilty without a trial and had to pay. I checked with a solicitor who told me that that was the law but that I was insured for it. Put it on the claim for the damage to my car, other party of course being uninsured, and it was paid without comment/complaint.
