amazing that you can leave it and it not be the subject of vandals or anti's wanting to blow holes in it

It happens i used to keep a duckpunt on the other side of the harbour then the rspb put up a hide near where i kept the punt with in a week or 2 the punt was wrecked so i made a point of shooting that bay as much as *** i still shoot it now and will keep on shooting there.

I had a few minutes to spare today so i nipped down the duckpunt to take a pic it,s another **** one i'm afraid, when i walked out across the marsh i passed about 30 teal sat on the ice about 40 or 50 yards away they never even moved they seem to struggling with the weather i've booked a week off work next week i was going to have 2 or 3 days with the big gun but it looks like the ban will be on even if its not i think i'll give it a miss till the weather lets up for a bit. heres the pic not a good 1 still i'll have to invest in a better camera.

We`ve taken to working the punt off a trailer on a slipway. Having used a mooring for donkeys years the trailer is a damn site easier and you don`t have to be quite so precise with the tides.

Still not as convenient as being able to keep it at the bottom of your garden though! One of the things I don`t miss with using a trailer is having to wrestle with a 10 foot, 120lb gun across creeks and through the mud. Truth to tell, with a locked hard cover, the big gun used to live in the punt all season. Could`nt do that anymore! How do you get on with getting the gun in and out of the punt in that creek?

Hello mate i move the punt out of that creek on to a hard beach about 300 yards away i used to leave the gun on board but as you say not anymore, unfortunatly i dont live in the houses in the photo, i live about 5 mins walk away.the weather is easing here tonight so we might escape the ban with a bit of luck, shot a few duck up the water medows yesterday mallard and teal they seemed in good nick nice and fat. the woodcock were very tame and the snipe were walking about with in a few yards of me but they are allways the first to suffer as they have to get there beaks into the ground and have no body wieght to start with, hope every thing is well with you have a good season all the best. Pat
