682
I'm just starting out in this pigeon decoying game and still have an awfull lot to learn. I know there will be various factors (weather for one) which affects the results obtained on a typical days shooting, but I wanted to canvas everyone's experience on which time of year is easiest (bigest bags) for decoying and shooting Woodys. Don't say January !! or I'll be very disheartened! I haven't even got out of single figures in a day yet... Cheers!
ernyha
8-) My favourite remark to my mate when we have had an unproductive day on the rape such as today is "It will be good here on the stubble". You will normally have your "easiest" shooting when the crops have ripened and then on the stubble when cut.Peas, rape, beans wheat and barley, these are the ones in my area. My mouth is watering at the thought.Don,t get despondent, the season gets better by the month.
Cranfield
Spring on drilling and late Summer/Autumn on stubbles. The bits in between are times for practise. :( :(

Deako
RAPE STUBBLE!!!!!!
ernyha
Can,t argue with rape stubble Deako but bean stubble can be equally exciting and the farmers are not in such a hurry to plough it in. 8-)
MAJ
My largest bags for the last three years have all been late March - early April on drilled beans. Having said that, the birds seem to land without hesitation among the decoys on these days, and so present easier targets. For sporting, and therefore more entertaining shooting, you can't beat (in my opinion) decoying on rape, in mid January, in a gale!!!
