pmiddy
Has anyone noticed that the batterys that you get as a package with a magnet even a 12volt 17a only last at most 4 hours with a speed controller . So me and my shooting mates have gone and bought batterys from mobility shops 12volt 35a and they last 3 full days without a charge ( THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THE WEIGHT WHEN YOU HAVE A LONG WALK TO YOUR SHOOT ) . So why do they sell them if they wont do the job unless they think we only shoot for 2 hours each visit CHEERS..................................PAUL
The Claw
Had same experience, how much bigger are your scooter batteries and how many pennies were they ?
pmiddy
The mobility scooter battery is a good bit smaller than a car battery ALSO when we set up 2 hides about 40 yards apart we use long cables with crocodile clips on each end and run 2 magnets off the 1 battery . The said batterys are 75 quid each but if you had to buy a battery like the ones that come with the magnet packages you would need three batterys . Hope this helps as we have had some **** experiances with batterys cheers........................paul
activeviii
i get around 10 hrs out of a 12 amp and 14hrs out of the 12amp, thins is with a pinewood that comes with a 7amp battery. one of the reasons you dont get long out of a battery is having long leads from the rotary and battery and/or to thin a wire. pmiddy
When i shoot in my own hide i only use the leed supplied with a speed controller on it which is just long enough to get past the arms of the magnet so it cant be the using of long leeds thats causing the short battery runtime as it drains with them both and it was a bought magnet not a made one if that is your next question . wymberley
Hi, Just a couple of thoughts that might help. Have you checked the power that the motor is pulling just in case there's a fault? Do you occasionally run your batteries right down and recharge? Cheers
pmiddy
My brother uses the same battery but a different magnet and the same happens ? Cheers....................paul
2sledge
hi i use a home made magnet using a wiper motor and speed controler from maplins the motor draws 1amp on slow speed and 2amp on very fast the battery is a 12v 20 hr which means it will take 20hrs to go from fuly charged to flat if drawing 1 amp and 10hrs if drawing 2amps but in reality it is more like 18 hrs and 9 hrs you need to find out how many amps the motor is drawing to work out the life of the battery the longer the wire and its size will make a differance the tip is to buy a good make of battery mine cost £35 .00 hope this helps
motty
My 20 ah battery lasts well over 12 hours with the magnet at full speed. You must have bought poor quality batteries before.

chrispti
Just use a car battery, you get a good 4 to 5 full days before you need to charge it up again + if you have extra wire then you can run extra magnets and flappers etc etc Heavy . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Just think of all that money you will save on gym memberships . . . . . . . . . . . . . its all good phys
