Chard Posted January 18, 2010 Report Share Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) Yes, it's not a native species It does look a bit like an escaped Harris Hawk, or one of that family, There's a few of them, distantly related to the Buzzard family - Red-Tailed Hawks, Swainsons Hawks etc, but I think Harris Hawks are the ones most commonly used for falconry over here. I thought they had bigger white patches on them, but you probably get a lot of variation with age etc. I think Magman has seen one over the Wirral when he's been out and about. I would have imagined it would have dropped in that harsh baltic snow we had a few weeks back.
