barnes varmint granades

I am looking for some general details on these in rem223 with a 1:12 twist.

1. are they classed as expanding ammo/

2. where can I buy them (live in west of scotland or purchase by the web)?

3. I am currently using vagrant powder how much should I start with?

Wouldnt bother, they tend to group like a shotgun. Nosler 50 grn shots will kill any fox you hit for a lot less money and far more accuracy.

I bought some of the above heads for my .243, because of the effect they are supposed to do when hitting the target. I tried them on Water Melons, and the effect was no different to that of the 75Grn heads I normally use. No difference in accuracy though, they grouped well. My advice, don't bother with them.

I originally looked at Barnes in .223 but decided to go for V-Max as they are highly frangible.

I tried them in my 222, accuracy was **** and no expansion at all,

Try the 34 grn DogTown Hollow points from Midway UK, they are far more accurate and much more frangable,

I tried a box of these (varmint grenades) in .223 (35g I think) because they're frangible. They definately didn't have the knock down power of 40g or 55g Vmax even at close range and I didn't like them
