KFC
I don't have an allotment but I have a permission on one. I clear the Rats and Rabbits. In return I get fruit & veg. A growing (pun) trend is for farmers or landowners to let out land on a landshare basis. I know some allow animals. http://www.yours2share.com/cgi-bin/mojoCla...=1&number=
Starman
Nearly 45,000 have signed up to the River Cottage Landshare http://landshare.channel4.com/ I have 4 and a bit acres of grazing land but the missus is gradually starting to grow her own stuff. Last year we had apples, tomatoes, beans, blackberries, wild plums, eggs and of course a few rabbits.

Whitebridges
My father has two allotments in Holt, North Norfolk. He pays £1.50 a year rent on each I think. There are pigs, horses, ducks, chickens, goats etc. kept on the others close by. If I had the time i'd love an allotment.
