sitsinhedges
I have a 20g recipe that calls for cx2000 primers,I dont have many of them but I do have a fair amount of cx50s which are milder. Anyone have any idea how I can go about using the cx50s while still maintaining the cartridges performance, and safety. Does it require extra propellant (A1) and if so how much to compensate. I also have some primers decapped from Winchester Western 32g 5s that I would like to use if anyone has information that would allow me to. TIA

sitsinhedges
Do you have Claygame's loads? Its a claygame recipe I am following in the first instance.
Andy H
What load is it you are following.
sitsinhedges
What load is it you are following. It's 17 grains of A1 with a fibre wad and 28 grams of shot in a 65mm PT
Andy H
I can find loads for medium primers(cx 1000/u686) in that weight but only 24 gram for mild primers(cx50/fio515).
sitsinhedges
I didn't know if there was a set amount of allowance like there is if you use fibre wads instead of plastic.
seeker
Why not back off the loads and work up as in centrefire when changing components? FWIW in Lyman 4 the Win 209 seems to sit near the Fiocci 616 but below the Fed 209a
sitsinhedges
Why not back off the loads and work up as in centrefire when changing components?FWIW in Lyman 4 the Win 209 seems to sit near the Fiocci 616 but below the Fed 209a Because I thought that would only give velocities and not breech pressures. I understand that the two aren't necessarily related.
seeker
There has to be a correlation between 'pressure and velocity ... no? So with compoments "not listed" because those manufacturers just don't how can you reload? especially if those and a chrono are all that is available? Some research around the various sites, a V/C graph perhaps and a careful approach That is short of a pressure barrel or one of the kits Dr Kolb details on Border Barrels site? Has anyone an absolute answer please?
