waynemac
? IS ANYONE A MEMBER OF THE PIGEON SHOOTING CLUBS? ie the ones you see in the back of the shooting mags. if so has anyone got any comments, as I work all week this would only leave weekends which i suspect would be busy. If the guys who run the clubs could give a bit more info out it would make me less wary. waitin to here from you all.
Cranfield
I don,t belong to a Pigeon Club. But, I did ring the one I think you are referring to. When they first advertised, they were not specific about the area they covered. As I am in Kent, I was way out of their boundaries. The chap I spoke to was very helpful and chatty. You pay a membership fee per year and then can shoot on farms where they control the pigeon shooting. They all work much the same. I think these people may have had a stall at the Midland Game Fair. Hopefully someone will respond that has first hand experience of neing a member of a Pigeon Club.
sutty
Hello mate In reply to your question ,me and my pal were "Invited " to join a local club who specialised in pigeon shooting and had to undergo quite a thourough interview ,obviously aimed at the safety aspect, which we both totally agreed with. During the interview it became clear that the comittee were more interested in the land we had and went to great lengths to try and get locations etc out of us, they didn't. We were accepted on the understanding that we hand over any land we had to the club. We declined. We couldn't see the point of paying to shoot on land we already had. It made us wonder if they had quite as much land they said they had Not quite the same as clubs that advertise in such as "Sporting Gun" etc but the moral must be find out as much as you can before parting with cash regards sutty
PigeonPoo
You have to parse a test first and that envolves knowing how to spell Piegion correktly, awright?
berettaboy
Yes ! I'm a member of Pest rid see www.pest-rid.co.uk. It costs £80 per year plus a £20 joining fee. For that you get about 35 farms to shoot on. I'm like you and can only go at the weekends so it made sense to join. If you are in the Yorkshire area I would certainly consider it.. sutty
Hello berrettaboy I have been thinking for sometime about joining pest-rid and was wondering if they have land etc around the East Yorkshire area. any info you have would be appreciated. regards sutty
berettaboy
If you look at their website you can see that most of the shooting they have is east of York in the old East Riding. I usually shoot at North Duffield.. 20 mins from my house. BB

Guest flightline
Waynemac I`ve only just seen your post. I`m a member of National Pigeon and Pest Control, which has a fair bit of land in the North and Midlands of England. Cost me £125 and I think that included a one-off joining fee, but can`t remember now. Run by a guy called John Shooter (I`m not making this up) on 0870 757 2246.
