Cranfield
Still no pigeons on "my" rape today, but I moved around the wood edges, standing every now and then and managed to shoot 8 passing birds. Their crops were mainly full of ivy berries. Hopefully the current cold snap will push them out of the woods and on to the rape. There was a white ground frost still evident at 9am, on the "dark" side of the woods.
sutty
Still not much around me at the moment, but as you say hopefully a few good frosts will bring them out. The bad news is that neither of the farms i shoot over are growing rape this time, but they have quite a lot of brassicas etc so we are hoping this will see us over to the peas going in. There does seem to be still a lot of berries around this year though. regards Sutty

Cranfield
It hardly got above -2 degrees in North Kent today and with a strong Easterly wind , the chill factor must have been even lower. I shot 8 pigeons at roost time, but still nothing on "my" rape. The berries must disappear soon. :(
Malc
Never fear, I've had the "word" from one of my wiser old farm yakkers. He told me that the pigeons WILL hit the rape this weekend. He also winked at me! Now, this may seem a trivial conversation, but, past experience tells me that his prediction will be correct. :(
