partimehero
Hi, I shot some clays yesterday for the first time and REALLY enjoyed it. I've shot airguns and .22 rimfires in the past but yesterdays shoot was great and prefer it over anything else. I'm booking myself in for more lessons etc but what are the options to me now? Where could I go from here? Many thanks
mayfly36
GET ure application away for a shotgun, if you think this is the route you want to go down.
Lez325
Yes apply for an SGC and see how you go- there is also Wood Pigeon shooting to consider - if thats your kind of thing- many on this forum are heavily involved in that type of shooting as well as Clays Les
partimehero
Guys, thanks for the advice. I was thinking on the same lines but if I apply for an SGC now, would I have to have had loads of shooting under my belt to show that I am a keen and responsible sportsman first or doesnt that matter? Thanks again Edited February 6, 2010 by partimehero
christy
Does not matter.

partimehero
Ooooh yes..... I'm already saving as we speak - but well worth the expense in the long run! What will I be restricted to if I am successful with my application? Will it be a side by side or over / under only?
christy
There are no restrictions providing it is a shotgun. Have a few lessons if you can. Soon as, then you will not pick up any bad habits. Build insurance into your budget. It is not compulsery but sensible.
mayfly36
yuo wont be restricted re the s/s or the o/u, but you will have to be supervised for 6 months, OH and be totally honest won ure application about any previous hictory, if any. EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE PUT DOWN.
humperdingle
you will have to be supervised for 6 months, Never heard of that one - Is that what happens in NI?

Tel Time
Get yourself a mentor, someone who already shoots and is willing to give you their advice and a little tickle when you have done really well one day, its a shooting thing

SSS
Get your SGC next. Good luck. You can have a semi-auto as long as it is 3 shots. 1 in the chamber and 2 up the spout. If you want more than 3, you have to apply for FAC and have 'good reason' to have an extended mag on it.
