Spaniel
Went out today to set up our hide ready for some crow bashing in the next couple of days. The farmer as just muck spreaded about 50 acres and when we got up the farm, there were loads of crows about. I have 8 full body pigeon decoys which i sprayed matt black and also a couple of crows with feet, We did have interest from the crows and jackdaws, but when things really happened was when i hit a crow down and as it was spinning down to the ground, it attracted the attention of a couple more crows which came straight into the pattern. Not just once but a couple of times We had about 10 (mix Crows and jackdaws) on the ground, but we could of had more. So i was thinking about putting some movement into the pattern and wondered what the best way to do this would be. Do i look at a bouncer or would a magnet be any better in attracting them in. I have made a home made crow with wings, again from a full body decoy painted black, and wondered if i could assemble some sort of hanging devise to hand the decoy from in the field etc which may also make some movement in the pattern. Any tips, ideas welcomed please Cheers

rheth
i use acme crow caller as u shoot em put them out in your pattern the more the merrier.i set a horseshoe pattern and have found they like to land in the gap in the middle like pigeons.but the more deeks on the ground the more confident they come in.have agreat day lets know how it went
steve_b_wales
I use a Primos Power Crow Call, it's brilliant. Also. I use a flapper with an intermittent timer fitted. A floater further up the field helps bring the crows in. Together with decoys, this set up works well everytime.
markyboy
i have shot over 30 crows in an hour on muck spreaded fields, with just 2 flocked crow decoys. but you have got to keep as still as you can and blend in to the surroundings or your crow shooting wont last long. Spaniel
Know what you mean about keeping still, they dont miss a thing.. Got some Flocked Decoys today and made a home made bouncer sort of thing, so will set this out when we go up on Friday morning. But thinking about just buying a couple of bouncers/floaters instead of messing about trying to get the stuff to make them, think they are about £15 each on the sponsors site. Im still abit uncertain with spending all the money on the Magnets etc at the present time. I did lok at the pecking crow decoy, but i thought it seemed to be moving a bit to fast O and i have been driving the Mrs insane with the crow call in the kitchen Edited February 22, 2010 by Spaniel
steve_b_wales
My biggest bag of crows/jackdaws, using the equipment mentioned in my earlier post, was 128 in just under 3 hours. I don't think I will ever get to beat that number, although I live in hope!
Spaniel
Thats a good bag steve FIL did about 200 many years back in one day, and thats the reason why we have the ground we both shoot on 30 years later I doubt if i will get any where near those numbers but its good to keep trying
