  1. Hi All,i have recentley been told by farmer on land i shoot over i cant shoot the pigeons anymore on the land as there are apparently there are nesting skylarks and lapwings nesting on land.this comes from newcastle city council and a as yet unknown source as to when survey was carried out to determine such nest sites they say this has come from some department down south as yet not known who.i as a member of the N.G.O. raised this with them who had not heard of this issue at all and are looking into it,today recieved an email from them saying they are still investigating but up to now have come across 1 other case down the south.anyone on here had an issue as yet or know of any new rules regarding skylarks and lapwing protection laws and shooting?
  2. for Northumbria police I got a number from the girl at the call centre so I can text through my details, they text back log number and when I am finished i text to log off very easy all I give them is my name, name of farm where shooting, how many shooting, and vehicle reg.
  3. you dont need to apply for an individual licence for pigeons just make sure you read it and comply with whats written in it.
  4. so am I right in thinking you only need to adhere to the written licence and do not need to apply for one to have on your person.seems like back to business as usual.
  5. a story in my local rag the Newcastle evening chronicle running a story on the r.s.p.c.a. saving four cute baby grey squirrels and are looking after them at a rescue centre until they are old enough to be released under licence.my question is this is it not illegal to release grey squirrels into the wild therefore are the r.s.p.c.a. breaking the law.
  6. just had to watch the blackbirds, hedge sparrows and pigeons nests get hammered off the magy over the past week.thanks MR PACKHAM
  7. you must have a sixth sense pinfireman, the BBC are today running a story on this exact same thing but instead of getting everyones favourite eco warrior and their go to guru on this kind of subject Packham on asking for his thoughts are just asking the general public at the airport.me thinks they have asked him for a response but he has politely declined preferring to keep his head below the parapet someone should ask him his thoughts on the matter by his social media pages, would do it myself but totally useless with technology.
  8. shooting bodies are telling us not to rely on section 4 and better not to take the risk of prosecution as theres a high chance you will lose.
  9. it wont be celebs who will make a difference for every celeb that pipes up you can bet your bottom dollar a lot more celeb antis will appear bolstered by Packham who havnt got a clue what their talking about just happy to get there faces and names back in the public domain to get work.the only people who will and can make a difference are the people who actually make the decision POLITICIANS we need the politicions who actualy understand the situation to be lobbying not only gove but the prime minister herself.
  10. hi savhmr,so all that's happening is NE are rewording the old licence and life carrys on as before as long as you adhere to the new licence so no need to fill out the licence application form they have put up on their site.
  11. i raised this same question in another thread but got no reply,in the wording of section 5 (e) no mechanical aids in my opinion whirlys and flappers are mechanical aids your quite right to raise this important point.a legal point of view to this question would be helpful
  12. so does this mean whirlys and flappers are illegal to use, section (e)
  13. first get some land to shoot on,get decoying set up,go out and shoot you will soon learn by your mistakes.

  16. thanks lakeside now sorted ordered 2 motorised flappers and 10 shell covers with the added bonus of them being in the January sale 30% off absolute bargain cant wait to try them out.i also have 2 AA decoy flappers which I have had for 8 years the only thing that has gone wrong with them was the motors broke which you can buy on ebay for £2.50 delivered from china and very easy to fit.i wanted the sillosock flappers to go on bouncer to get a bit more height.
  17. thank you Rachel much appreciated👍,yes mossy the motor one ive got a ground flapper was just looking for one to fit onto a bouncer to get a bit of height into pattern.

  20. hi all, just saw good numbers of pigeons hitting milky wheat in the corbridge area of Northumberland. a few flat patches have appeared after the stormy weather so probably worth checking your perms.
  21. agree with Jdog, when I'm shooting on my perms close to houses and footpaths the farmers have insisted i always let police know, Northumbria police have a mobile number you just txt and get an instant reply, within half an hour with your log number no need to ring 101.this has helped me on several occasions police ringing me to ask my position on farm and if I have heard any other shooting in the area bar mine as they have received complaints of shots being fired when they know its me and shooting perfectly legal never had a problem they simply let the complainant know its a legal vermin shoot and not to worry.but when they called to ask if anyone was shooting other than myself I told them someone was shooting on neighbouring land the chopper and armed response were all over it while I watched on.
  22. recommend AA flapper had my two for a good few years work great only had to replace the motors recently after lots of hard use les than £2 delivered a flappers a flapper in my opinion it adds movement to your pattern save your money AA all the way for me.
  23. another vote for AA had mine for several years well used the only thing I have had to do was replace the motor which were £1.79 delivered easy to fit yourself.
  24. if memory serves me correct shooting pigeons is done as a last resort after all other methods have been tried and failed the farmer may be correct but has he and his shooters followed the letter of the law or does he see pigeons and phone shooters?
  25. cant see how its unhelpful JDog if he looks at the posts from talk from the field section he will know how difficult getting anywhere near them in winter can be even your own posts wil tell him that ref your last one.
