Colster Posted February 24, 2010 Report Share Posted February 24, 2010 They're sealed with nitrogen as water does not bond to nitrogen very easily, hence the scope shouldn't fog up while the seal remains intact. Argon (or any inert gas) is even better but more expensive. As to how hard it is to completely purge a scope of air and ensure that you're only sealing argon/nitrogen in, I'd have no idea.
