BlaserF3
Are you good with reamers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7YQf6YWLaM and do you have a bore gauge? Edited March 4, 2010 by BlaserF3
wymberley
Hi, Chopping the barrels is very successful and does make a difference. Very likely, from whatever choke you currently have, you'll go straight to TC! Although I appreciate that the you-tube video may have been edited, unlike that chappie appeared to be, are you a skilled technician and have access to a range of reamers as if not you will find they cost far more than a gunsmith will charge for that simple procedure. The advantage being that if he makes a mistake, he pays; if you screw up, you live with it. Often the cheapest and easyest way is to try some different cartridges. You with the barrels in a vice with a hacksaw in one hand, fag in the other and licking your lips, or a gunsmith?

You left out the fact I was drunk and using a set of bolt crops, not a hacksaw. A smith, obviously . ZB
BlaserF3
If you read The Firearms Act any barrel shortening to a shotgun, has to be done by an RFD

fortune82
I have found the best way to open up chokes is to put a cone shaped piece of metal into the muzzle and hammer like ****! Barrel end up looking like a blunderbuss but hell you have no choke!! Don't worry you don't need to thank me for my professional gun smithing advice. radio1ham
was thinking about doing it to my baikal single barrell i measured the barrell with micrometer and showed .680 inches ( which i was told is full choke) was thinking of taking it up to .700 inches to see what difference it will make the gun didnt cost me a lot so not got much to loose as for tools if i get stuck my brother works in an engineering factory where im sure they will have more tools than enough to use if i get stuck already had an air rifle barrel sorted at his work place which i didnt relise that had been cut befoore i bought it it was chopped with a rough hacksaw but gave to my brother to take in to work and had it cut properly on the lathe
Popgun
I sent my 28 bore to a gunsmith to have some of the choke taken out was 3/4 and full now 1/2 and 1/4 cost about 30 quid each barrel shoots a lot better over the decoys now.
