deputy dog
DD I knew the number was high, but 2500 is a huge number - respect to you fella I don't mind moving my bin back, in fact I am so neighbourly I do next doors as well, and in turn they do ours if we are out. I am sure half the people moaning about this would call in sick on Tuesday if they started your job on Monday. Stuart if you only knew the daily abuse we got to put up with of Joe public. As soon a i put my council clothes on, i become a target for all the noble biggots who sit on their windows daily watching a waiting for any oppitunity to cause some me grief. They all moan about this at that and how they could do the job better themselves. But none of them will actually stand by their convictions and try it out. The fact is these noble biggots are the same as the people who write these Quality Of Service papers. The type of people who talk a good game but never actually done the job themselves and trod in the binmans shoes. I have never been one to rag a man down about his job, if i have never had personal experience of that job myslf. Perhaps some people on here should start thinking the same way. MPT1
DD, May I ask, do you work to finish your round early or is your entire shift worked ie is it an 8hr shift? Traditionally this work was on a job and knock basis. In the 1970s Enfield Council set up a time and motion study. This established that most rounds could be finished by 10.00am They privatised the refuse collection and then doubled the rounds, the people doing the job still finished before midday. We start at 5.30am and finish of at the tip at 12.30 to 1pm. We dont even contemplate job an knock because our rounds are simply massive. Its does take us virtually the whole shift to do it. Granted i'm in the house about half one every day, but i'm totally knackered an need a power hour like. Not sure about time and motion studys of Enfield Cuncil back in the 70s. But i should imagin that they are some what out dated to say the least by the modern councils methods of work practice.
Beretta28g
My problem is that we are on a busy, i mean busy main road, and the placement of emptied bins not only means that they have to be moved before we can get the cars in but also makes mums with kiddies and prams step off the narrow footpath when they walk to the school not far away. if the bin was set back against the fence/wall no problem would be had. MPT1
If you have a problem, which many of us do, you must complain as high up as possible. HDAV
our's put our bin and the neighbour's back down the drive (5m ish). Mine is always left in the middle of the bloody drive! i always put out to one side and as they seem to wheel them 2 at a time on the return they just stop one in the middle of my drive one in my neighbours! i have got this problem - only they leave the bin accross the end of the drive , rather than put it back the extra 2mtrs, when i pull up i have to then get out of the car and move it = a pain as my house is on a corner. i gave up asking after three tries - so now i always make sure i put the bin out with the handles against the wall, so at least its a pain in the *** for them having to turn it around (yes - i know its petty - sorry!) LOL I do the same Edited March 9, 2010 by HDAV
Starman
I was leaving our bin bags out on the same day for years when suddenly there was no collection for two consecutive weeks. I checked on the web and there had been no change in collection days for our area, so I put them out again on week three. When I got home from work they had been left with some warning notice attached about fly tipping. Turned out some *** had decided rubbish could only be collected in blue sacks and not black ones as per the last couple of decades. Nice of them to let us know
