TomV
I found a video on youtube where a bloke gives a brief overview of how to clean one. Its not that detailed. Are there any better links??
Imperfection
Not as far as i know, but soon as you've done it once-you'll be able to do it blindfolded. The trickiest bit initially is removing the bolt cocking handle, but it has to be a little bit hard to prevent it dropping out when in use. Shuck.
I found a video on youtube where a bloke gives a brief overview of how to clean one. Its not that detailed. Are there any better links?? I can strip em down to the last pin.. tell me if you get into trouble, I just found out by messing around. How far have you got? New or old model? I got stuck with the cocking handle the first time, just line up the little hole in the bolt dead inline with the cocking handle then hold it there and keep pulling on the handle and will come out, will have to tug it. starlight32
I thought their was no need to strip the escort down? You just stand it in front of a wall and use the garden hose?

It is brand new model. I've used it twice now and Im thinking its time to strip it down and give it a good clean. I've got as far as removing the barrel. What is the best solution to clean the parts with? would meths suffice?

Shuck.
It is brand new model. I've used it twice now and Im thinking its time to strip it down and give it a good clean. I've got as far as removing the barrel. What is the best solution to clean the parts with? would meths suffice? I just had a look at pics of a stripped new model Escort and it looks very different to the older one inside so I take back what I said about the cocking handle removal as I've only stripped the older model. If I were you I'd just buy a decent gun spray, remove barrel, give the gas ports a good spray and run your wire brush over them from both sides. If you can't find instructions to strip the action, just (obviously after making sure the magazine is empty) cock the bolt back and give the bolt and the inside of the reciever a good spray all over. While the bolt's cocked, give the mag tube a squirt as this can stain if it's left on for too long. The gas piston and rubber 'O' ring will need regular cleaning, otherwise you'll soon be replacing the 'O' ring and the gas piston is a ***** to get shiny after it's been caked in powder residue for a while. I don't bother removing and cleaning the chokes Every now and again to keep the action smooth, and the gun cycling properly, while cleaning the reciever, spray around all sides of the bolt and bolt carrier and repeatedly cock and uncock the slide to make sure the fluid gets in all the moving parts.
