kyska
Hi All, I have a spare slot for FAC .22, going out with a 'young' shooter from this forum yesterday who asked for some shooting on my land I realised the extent of the rabbit problems in areas that I don't normally shoot because it is unsuitable for rimfire. We bagged up big time, first time shooting for him with his BSA, its great to see young shooters starting out! Also, a few acres of paddock that we rent needs some clearing so I'm considering filling said slot. I've had many a airrifle over the years and because of my location PCP are a real pain in the ***, to refill, or even get my bottle refilled. I don't fancy pumping a rifle for hours. So...I'm considering a non PCP FAC air, I've found a lovely Theoben Eliminator in .22, does anyone own/or has owned one who I can contact please? Or any experience with these things. I'm almost ready just to buy it, I've wanted one since I was about 'this high', in awe of 20 odd ft/lb.. Thanks Kyska
bullet boy
If you want an extemely good FAC airgun then you really need a PCP-look no further than in my opinion the best FAC air-rifle,a Theoben Rapid. For one you got a recoilless rifle that will deliver supreme accuracy and not forgetting a good amount of shots per charge. An Eliminator is not recoilless and won't be as accurate as the Rapid. ATB in what you purchase.
peek-at
Hi All, I have a spare slot for FAC .22, going out with a 'young' shooter from this forum yesterday who asked for some shooting on my land I realised the extent of the rabbit problems in areas that I don't normally shoot because it is unsuitable for rimfire. Have you had a land survey done on your land by your local firearms licensing officer? If not dont be too quick to write off your land for rimfire use. I have been suprised on occasion by what land they will authorise for .22 rimfire use so give them a ring and get a survey done. If you are going FAC Air have you considered AA 410 extra FAC. 30ft lbs dont be put off by using a cylinder to fill either. you get about 40 shots on a charge (with aa exrta) and you could take a small cylinder out with you to be more portable cheers

Colster
I have the S400 in FAC, although mine has a BTAS reg fitted so does around 55-60 shots per charge. I bought a FAC Air for similar reasons to you, I had a couple of bits of land that I didn't feel happy using my LR. One is a number of small paddocks near cattle sheds and typically I'd shoot them on foot, going prone with an LR is almost guaranteeing richochets. The other is a 12acre paddock surrounded by footpaths. The FAC Air does the business for these two perfectly. Plus I fancied changing my springer for a PCP anyway so as I had a slot for FAC Air it seemed daft not to go that route. The gun cost me £275 and I got a 3Ltr 300Bar bottle with gauge and hose etc for £110 posted.

Dekers
This is a problem area and whilst I have FAC air I also have a number of other tools as I have a lot of different situations to deal with. I would urge caution to anyone buying FAC air over a rimfire, just bear in mind that caps, shorts, longs, shotshell can also be used in your lr. This gives you an incredible array of repeatable ammo to use all day, to cover a vast set of situations with power between around 30-205ft lb! Every situation is different and FAC air most certainly has it's uses, but it can be expensive, and I would have to suggest PCP over spring/gas ram whatever in FAC, so air can be an issue to! ATB!! Thanks, As I said earlier I have the .17hmr also, and a .204 variation in at the minute. Whether I've done the right thing or not I bought the FAC daystate PH6, I read as much as I could and found the usual, some people liked them, some people thought they were the devils spawn.....but the price was right, its absolutely mint, 34ft/lb .22, thumbhole walnut. Its up to me to decide now... :o If I had the cash for a rapid I would of gone for that, and although it sounds frivulous, if its **** I'll change it, its wasn't too much expense for me.
