Boromir
The problem is the goverment is taking to much tax they stop people from smoking and lose tax from fags so they have to get it from the oil if they make people cut down on there driving they will have to get tax from somewhere maybe Beer or VAT ? Agrre with you then when they have stopped me to getting to work due to cannot afford the fuel to get there, what will they tax next? I am really struggling and may have to give up work as soon I wont be able to get there as no train or bus goes near it.Could bike it but its an 8 mile trip one way. I earn less than £15000 a year but i love my job, but these fuel prices is changing my mind. I am now seeking a career change which pays more, its the only way I think I can get out of this mess. Boromir
one idea i had was if the government could introduce some sort of discount fuel card for people that work 30+ miles from home, obviously you would have to prove where you work etc... so the card holders get fuel at £1 a litre!!!!hmmm, we live in hope! No I think that it should go by how much income you earn. You chose to work 30+ miles away from home not me. Oh and btw if you say I could speak I live in the closest town to my work. reaper6
The government, any government plays a fine line game on fuel duty. How much can the government put up fuel duty before people start using their vehicles less?.I would suggest that the price of fuel will need to go up quite a lot before the majority of people stop using their vehicles, or significantly reduce the amount they use a vehicle. I will take a wild guess at this one lets say £1.50 a litre before the masses start a drastic reduction in vehicle use. The next question is how many people will be made redundant because their business goes bust as a direct result of rising fuel costs?. FC Hoe can anyone realisticly use their cars less general public i mean.......its the haulage companys.......who could really make a difference........by protests.......look at last time... DSPUK
If you was in haulage would you be on front line - last time the VAT man - Inland revenue and customs went and checked everything on some of these companies - would you do it if that happened. - They (Gov) will have you any time. - soon they will be telling us to eat cake - then it's off with their heads dave
