dj.chapman
well i was meant to be going out decoying today, went out last night and brought some cammo netting and got everything ready so all i had to do was get my gun out in the morning and collect the decoys my mate was meant to be lending me, 24 shells. well its got to this morning and i get a call saying he is gonna use the decoys himself somewhere else. what a useless ****. looks like i am gonna have to go and shoot some woodies first before i can decoy. think i need to buy some decoys now!!!!! Cranfield
Its always difficult when you are relying on someone lending you equipment. I would still go without the decoys and look for trees near the fields that the birds are sitting in before, or after feeding. Get a few dead birds and you can soon build up a pattern. Until you buy some decoys, keep some dead birds in the freezer (shoot them or get some from your mate), take them out the night before you go shooting and they will be fine. At this time of year you can refreeze them for quite a few trips.
dj.chapman
well i still went out and had a good day! went to a fir belt the woodies always sit in first thing and shot 4 as they where coming into the trees. put them in my bag and walked to a near by newly drilled field and set up the hide in a gap in the hedge at the edge of the woods, set the decoys up in a v shap and settled in, nothing came close for the first hour so i changed the pattern slightly. 5 mins later they started to swoop in to the coys. 90 mins later it was time to leave and i had 15 in total. not bad for my first try at decoying me thinks. Guest cookoff013
i used to get let down by my friend. he found beer. i go out with other people now. he`s slowed down on the lemonade. my other friend will turn up late to his funeral. (driving like an ashole to gain the hour he `lost`) missing the high tide, when wildfowling. 8 o` clock means ten to eight at the latest.
