As we approach the weekend the weather is looking pants. I have recce'd some pea fields and there on it in numbers.

I want to get out there on the Friday but the weather is set for rain. The pea's are just coming through . should I go in the rain or not.

Has any one been in the rain and had a good day.

I've had some really good bags on days when you wouldn't normally bother, once it started tipping down so I got into one of those half round tin pig huts (yes it did have pigs in it, no they didn't mind the smell) got a sackfull of birds in a couple of hours. Swing was a bit restricted but it was comfy and dry. Had several d  ays in the rain when I've run out of cartridges, if it absolutely buckets down the pigeons tend to mope about in the trees, but anything lighter doesen't seem to bother them much...... in short ....go for it

I have never done well shooting over crops in heavy rain, but have had quite a few birds that were sheltering in the woods.

I look at the forecasts, but make the decision on the day, if its light rain I will go and if it gets worse and looks set in for the day, I pack up.

Often it can start off bad, but clear up late afternoon and then its well worth going, as the birds will feed later than usual if they haven't been on the fields all day.

It pays to be flexible.
