Pigeon call

I've always used a caller for crows and it works brilliantly.  I was looking through the Deben catalogue last night and I saw a pigeon call.  Has anyone ever used one???  If so, do they work???   :thumbs:

I have never used one and I have never heard one being used.

 

It would be interesting to know what sound it makes.

Pigeons only seem to "call", when they are sitting in trees (digesting their food ?).

 

Crows seem to call out to each other and also agressively call sometimes, but not pigeons.

 

Perhaps if you decoyed the pigeons close enough and threw a handful of the calling devices at them, you could cause some damage. :thumbs:

Steve, what noise do they make ? Is it the common coo, coo,...coo,coo. ?

 

I,d better stop making that noise I might get a pigeon landing on me. :thumbs:

They seem to be quite a big caller in the picture, so I presume they make a deep "coo...coo" sound (what other sounds do pigeons make?  :thumbs: ).  I've never heard one being used so I don't know.

Steve,an old mate of mine had one of these calls once and it was the funniest thing I ever heard! A sort of whooping and conbined whistling noise,absolutely hilarious........of course it had about as much chance of pulling a pigeon as Lazza has of pulling a page three bird....... :thumbs:

LOL  :laugh:  :laugh: !  I'll not bother getting one then.  I have a hard enough time maintaining credibility while missing pigeons (sorry, shooting pigeons), without sounding like a **** while doing it!!   :laugh:  :laugh:

the calls work well if you can loft some decoys in near by trees.

yes they do only call when  sitting in trees , its no use using one if they can`t see your decoys in a tree .

and yes they do work. try carrying a spool of fishing line in your bag and a handfull of weights i use 15mm nuts & bolts tie line to them ,throw up into tree then pull decoy up  tie off works a treat  its cheaper than poles.  :laugh:
