Reefcat
Have a MEC 600 for 28 guage, my mentor uses Alliant Unique, and bushing #21 seems to do the job well, for a 21gram load. A friend has recommended Vectan A1, at half the price. I can't seem to find any numbers for the density of Unique, so not sure what bushing I will need. Remmended load for the Vectan is 0.85 grams, any body have a table for MEC bushing with Vectan please? Many thanks - Bob
Andy H
Be aware that a large flake powder like A1 can be troublsome in the smaller powder bushings , I load 410 with A1 and use a scoop to measure the powder but back to your .85 grams which is just over 13 grains you will be looking at a bushing in the early 20's as the lowest that my chart gives you is bushing no 26 at 14.9 grains, Also have a look here http://www.gualandi.it/TabCariche/POLVERI_CARICAMENTO.htm with a gualandi wad it gives you .65 grams of A1which is 10 grains for an 18 gram shot load. Andy H
Just been doing a bit of experimentation an if using scoops made from old brass pistol cases you get 7 grains of A1 out of a 38 s&w case /10.1 grains out of a 9mm case and 13.2 out of a 45acp case. So for your .85 grams a 45acp case should do Just solder a 4" piece of wire coat hanger to the side of the case and bend the end to form a loop to hold ,Also the most important item of reloading equipment though is a decent set of scales. seeker
A Lee chart gives VMD of unique as 0.10920 ... #21 bush shows 14.5 gn of Unique in the Lyman Manual...

Bushes are only a guide. Powders vary from batch to batch, I find A136 a better powder for 28 gauge.
