ST3V3
fed up buying factory ammo so bought some reloading gear got an old case cut a slot in it placed a head in it and chambered it. it measures 2.185" so if I seat them at 2.165" will this be ok as I think the max oal is stated at 2.130" which when loaded at this dont seem to be that accurate
bk
That seems a little short, from memory mine was longer but will have a look when I get home
jamie g
if your doing it that way do it a couple of times then take the average length. in the book when it says the max oal is stated at 2.130" is only really so if feeds properly from the mag. and you mite find your rifle shoots better with a longer col then that stated in the book. really it would be better id you mesured it to the o give Edited April 6, 2010 by jamie g

Trefil Hunter
i get best results through my steyr mannlicher with very short rounds like the winchester ammo. with the short oal i can get half inch groups probably better if i do my bit better than normal
albob
cz 527 thanks for reply.i also should have added what are your views on it? thanks again. al ps,sorry to go off topic.
ST3V3
not a problem at all al im happy with it although it is a little shorter than it originaly should be as the barrrel has been chopped at some point to approx 18-19". its proberly lighter than my cz 452 main prob at the minute is there is a lot of muzzle flip but I suppose when I get around to buying a mod this will help cure this a little I think its about 17 years old but still shoots straight so im happy and what I paid for the rifle and scope combined is less than a cheap new cf mod

Loki
Hi I second the Tikka M595 as have had one for several years now. Stainless/Synthetic and the triggers crisp as indicated previous. Dont see many around now but I'm sure you wont be disappointed. Great on local foxes and Muntjac as well Roe in Scotland. Cheers
Lez325
I have the CZ 527 in 222 - with a Wildcat Predator 8 mod- sorts out the muzzle filp a treat Les
albob
thanks jamie g..loki..lez325. for the information regarding the .222. i do have the slot jamie but,not the money to fill the slot so,i`m just taking onboard any info i get on the .222 at the moment,as i want to buy once and have it as a keeper. to be honest i have thought about a old bsa cf2 that i have at the top of my list but,as i have owned cz rifles, they do seem to do very well in other cals. so thanks for the info gents,as always appreciatted. sorry to wander off topic. al
Evil Elvis
 I have the cz 527.Its a great gun very light, lighter than my hmr tbh. I have not really noticed any muzzle flip but then I havent tried to shoot it without the t8 on it. Its a great gun, i wish Id made the transition to centre fire a lot earlier....and I only did because our force wont give you a hmr for foxes! I got the whole set up including a scope second hand for £500 and it had only fired 50 rounds!

Evil Elvis
 Its really really light until you put the t8 on it but it balances suprisingly well to compensate, I have managed a couple of nice free standing shots with it without waving it round like a magic wand!!! Hit a fox on the run the other night, missed with the first shot, i gave it the sort of lead that i would have with the HMR and suddenly realised how much faster the bullet is...... ...made no mistake with the second shot!!!.................starting to really grow on me!! albob
cheers elvis,i suppose most guns are light till we put, bipod, scope, strap and lamp,it soon mounts up to quite a weight. as i have owned cz rifles and i do think they are very good guns, low end or not. do you reload or use factory?just curious for the info and thinking accurate loads, moreso with reloading, rather than factory ammo. al Edited April 12, 2010 by albob
