Oly
I was just wondering, a lot of puppy literature says to give the dog enough exercise (particularly around 6 months - the teenage months), but not too much as it can damage their hips etc. My wife has sadly known a few pups that this has happened to, but the question is; how do you tell when enough is enough??? millrace
as a rough guide it ceems to mostly recomend 5 mins per mnth of age spread over a day not including play time,,,rem that pups get excited and could play for ages....
Billy.
I was always told 10 mins for every month of their age. Edited April 11, 2010 by harfordwmj

That's a fact. My pup only has two gears full steam ahead and asleep although I am trying to introduce the calm gear.
Oly
It's tricky isn't it? As, how much does play also constitute exercise too??
darren m
same here mate , my new pup ( springer ) as huge bones , the vet told me to take it easy with her , about 15 mins a day ( thats a day ) but she is only 13.5 weeks old. prob is like most pups they dont know when to stop and she would be on the go all day if i did,nt restrict her etc . DoubleTap
Like above, when mine was a pup she would either be running as fast as she could or she would be sleeping. She did alot of excercise as a pup and has not had any problems... yet
