Down South
Just been looking on the Daily Mail web site (sorry). Jamie's lamb slaughtering seems to have caught the media's imagination, and possibly the laws. It seems not pre-stunning the poor creature could give him some grief. If I was the lamb I'd have been well stunned to find out a celebrity chef from England was going open my throat! Comments have been invited and most of them are from people that live in glass houses. Dinner on the table saved my soap box from being dragged out again. God save us from liberals and antis!
Ferret Master
Hi, Here is a link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...73&in_a_source= I have mixed views on this and eat as a rule eat only free range meat farmed in this country. ( Unlike the rest of my family, even though one of them thinks shooting rabbits is creul) However even though this happens in less developed countries I don't think it needs to be shown on British television as younger and weak hearted viewers will think this is how it happens in our country and not eat meat because of it. I say just get rid of Jamie Oliver  FM
jordan
Ferret master in my opinion your totally wrong. As jamie said in that show if your not happy with the way the animal is kille dgutted and skinned yous hould not be eating meat of anykind. what was shown was someones way of life people dont like it dont watch simple as. kip270
I believe that the rules to slaughtering animals in Italy are not the same in this tip-toe country, so i would be very surprised if anything comes of it. There are more important things in life than a top chef slaughtering meat for the table. If the public made more of a fuss when someone took the life of a child for their sexual perversions, maybe just maybe our kids could play in the streets, enjoy the countryside etc......without us worrying all the time
Ferret Master
Hi, Jordan, don't get me wrong. I am not to bothered by it myself it's just I was interpreting it how people would who's meat comes wrapped in cellophane from sainsburys. I understand that this has gone on like this for thousands of years and that the general standard of meat in Italy is much higher than in Britain as most of it over there is free range or organic. However this is a contreversial subject and will probably stay this way. No hard feelings mate  FM EDIT: I would also like to point out that I think that a better overall life with perhaps a slightly different death at the end of it is 100% better than a factory farmed animal which is hungry and in pain all of its life until the end. jordan
Never was any hard feelings but all im saying is people should relalize that the meat does not come from a platic bag but was once a living breathing animal.
Down South
Ferret master, people should know that if you want to eat something has to die! If you eat a lettuce you have to cut its head off first. Lesser developed countries of which IMO Italy is not makes no difference. If you want to live other things have to die. QED! Kip270 is right, there are far more important issues to be concidered. If JO had sh***ed the sheep instead of killing he'd be in less trouble. jonno 357
The main issue was, it was shown before the 9pm watershed and young children may have watched it. Jonno
monkey
i agree with kip on this matter and do also appreciate the views put forward on this topic. i would like to add that Gordon Ramsey on his program (the f word) currently has turkeys in his back garden teaching his children the all importants facts about the food we eat as the turkeys are their xmas dinner and are only there to be fattened up. Ferret Master
Hi, Good on Gordan Ramsey! We have poultry and although they are primarily egg layers if we have too many cockerels we will take one for the pot. I think it is better if children are taught about it in the right way and not flashed on the t.v screens when they will of been taught that killing anything is wrong. However we (fieldsport supporters) are some of the more compassionate lot when it comes to where are meat comes from. My friend who is against hunting doesn't care if his meat is battery farmed or not because his view is " if it's gonna be killed anyway it doesn't matter what conditions it lives in." I found this worrying as he is probably the cleverest person of his age I have met. FM
Down South
Jonno, In the real world there is no watershed. As for young children seeing it, they certainly did, there was a young girl present at all stages of that lambs transformation from life to dinner. her father explained to her what was going on and I don't think she was distressed. As a boy, when I shot my first rabbit my father held it by the back legs while I prepared it, it was usually the otherway around. Now my son shoots he does the same. No watersheds back in the 60s.
