Hi all,

Neil from Sussex reporting in and saying hello. Little about myself, I started shooting air rifles around 8, progressed on to going rough shooting with my dad, owned a little Winchester Model 37A .410 at 11 and shot my first Hare and Pheasant with that little gun. Those were the days. Went on to apprentice keeper at 17 on a well known Herefordshire estate, (complete with some fantastic Salmon beats) but gave it all up to join up at 18. Kept up shotgun shooting for awhile but eventually I had nowhere to shoot and unfortunately sold my guns (and surrendered my cert). I wish I hadn't sold all of them, apparently that little .410 is a bit of collectors item now. I still own air rifles, a HW35 and Original 50 (1960's model) a BSA Club in pieces and ready for 'being done up' and a Webley Senior, mint, still boxed from 1944.

Anyway, back on subject, there is sooo much changed since the mid 80's, what ever happened to the likes of cheap Spanish S&S imports!!? I'd like to purchase one but the price is staggering, wish I bought that AYA No2 SL years ago..lol.

I owned several including the Gunmark Kestrel SL, a Gorasable Silver Point Deluxe SL (my fav, with 27" barrels) a very old Belgian pre 1880's S&S hammer .410" and an old 12 bore hammer underlever. O/U's was a Rizzini Multi-choke - cant remember the name but would have been the model available 1990'ish.

So I have quite a lot of catching up on and my main concern is the lack of affordable side by sides (and as mentioned I really got on with one with 27" barrels)

My other love is Bass angling around Sussex, mainly surface popping, if anybody wants to exchange a bit of shooting for Bass fishing......

Welcome to pigeon watch. Very nice introduction.

You are certainly right about the SxS's being expensive.

I bought an AYA Yeoman last year for £160 and a farmer friend bought one second hand in 1979 for the massive sum of £25!
