I want to get my 10/22 barrel cut down to either 12 or 14 inchs.

How short should I go?

Anyone know anywhere that will do it near Richmond N Yorks, not going to sell the rifle so I don't need it re-proofing.

Cheers

Be carefull who you use! My finnfire was bodged by 2 supposed gunsmiths before I got it to shoot right after shortening.

Do NOT use emma rifles in Darlington. They haven't got clue and **** me about for 3 months.

It's an hour or so down the road but I can reccomend Dave at Rimfire magic/ south yorks shooting supplies. They buils custom 10/22's, do a superb job and will do it while you wait then test fire it on theirt indoor range ;)

;) I agree that dave will do a fine job,u don't want a cowboy doing it,if they get it wrong shortning or screw cutting, it can warp the barrel causing a choke effect gripping the bullet ever so slightly on its exit. many will argue that theve had no problems after such work but they don't shoot benchrest or comps so won't notice, but I've seen a good barrel go bad after such work.as for proofing I'm sure that officialy it must be re proofed,so I may need correcting on that one!

Dont know about SYSS but boarder barrels wont screw cut a barrel unless its proofed after they cut it ,but this is not the case with all gunsmiths

Make sure your overall gun length stays at over 24" or you'll turn it into a sect. 5 firearm.

Pop to your local CNC milling company, they'll not charge you much, probably an hours work, so £30. ;)
